It's not a treat.

The suspense is killing me.

peerie · 25/11/2022 17:48

So do you actually have to go and do some shopping and then they offer you something at the till - on your receipt?

peerie · 25/11/2022 17:50

I think I spend too much in there, I have their CC. Perhaps m&S feel they don't have to try with us types [shrug]

I also quite like Sparks, but it seems to be a bit of a MN 'thing' for people to regularly post how shit it is.

Maybe people aren't shopping there often enough? My least favourite loyalty scheme, and supermarket for that matter, is Tesco. They tend to send me all my Clubcard points at once just before Christmas each year and tell me that I can 'splash out for Christmas' with the £1.50 that they've sent me. Or I might be able to save up about 3 years worth of points to get a half price Pizza Express pizza.

Could be. I stopped buying at M&S when DD outgrew their children range and while I still buy underwear and DH gets some clothing from them, I may buy every other month if at all.
Food is a bit convenience when I need only a bit and walk past the Simple Food on the way home.

WimbyAce · 25/11/2022 17:54

I haven't shopped there for ages but just downloaded the app. All I have is hot drink offer and 20% off women's nightwear.

Drstrange · 25/11/2022 17:54

I’ve got 4 free pears. I have had some decent freebies from them though previously. A candle, hand cream a couple of times and some bakery items quite often so I can’t complain

emmathedilemma · 25/11/2022 17:58

I don’t have anything :( suspect I don’t spend enough

FiveShelties · 25/11/2022 18:04

Percy Pig sweets for me too.

ChristmasCwtch · 25/11/2022 18:12

I like John Lewis. They send me free stuff every month and at Christmas I get a hand written card from the local store manager… which caused DH to raise his eyebrows 😂

CaptainNelson · 25/11/2022 18:12

I've had free bakery cookies before now, the shortbread with chocolate chip ones. That was fantastic! Currently I just have some money off vouchers for things that I'm pretty sure I've bought there in the last month that they probably don't sell much of (cereal, baking ingredients, etc)
I used to get bloody percy pigs but I hate the things - thankfully they've stopped trying to get me to buy them. I do'nt even want to know what percy pig juice might be...

HundredMilesAnHour · 25/11/2022 18:17

I've had that free loaf of white bread on my account for months but I've just been ignoring it as I have zero interest. Now the Percy Pig smoothie has appeared too, also zero interest (I'm assuming it's full of additives as it looks vaguely radioactive).

Can we just have a discount voucher rather than being offered crap they can't sell?

ByTheGrace · 25/11/2022 18:22

Percy pig smoothie here, boak🤢. Normally it's bakery goods, which pisses me off no end as I'm gluten free. Yes, I'd love that free croissant etc but I can't eat it and it's not suitable for the food bank (and M&S is the only supermarket locally that doesn't collect for the food bank).

ByTheGrace · 25/11/2022 18:25

Just pray they don't bring Gary Barlow back in time for Christmas.

Oh I imagine he’s limbering up as we speak. 12 days of Christmas offers starts on the 1st

Moonshine5 · 25/11/2022 18:29

It's a loaf of bread 🍞

carkerpatridge · 25/11/2022 18:33

My treat at the moment is pears. I hardly ever go into store these days and the treats don't really inspire me to go.

I have also had occasional messages saying things like "Last week you were the top buyer of lemons at X store" - not sure if that is supposed to be added inspiration to return!!

Nah, at least you occasionally get a discount with Sparks, the worst had to be John Lewis. I’ve had one for years and dutifully swipe it on the occasion I buy from JL but I still have no idea what it does!

I think you used to get free cake, or free coffee in a proper cup at JL, but that hasn’t happened for a while. They are offering a members evening now, with free premium champagne cheapest cava they could find.
