Can any hairdressers help with a balayage question?

I'm thinking of having balayage. I have greys coming through though and currently use a box dye to cover them. I have mid brown hair. How would I carry on retouching my roots if I have balayage on the mid/ends of my hair? Can I just carry on as I have been? Thanks

I’m not a hairdresser but I do have balayage and a lot of grey coming through. I was originally getting a regrowth tint done every couple of months or so, but I’ve found that the grey is getting much worse and I was getting a regrowth tint every 4-5 weeks which was not sustainable for me.

I’m starting to have a few tiny highlights around the root area as well as going a bit lighter on the regrowth tint to try and blend it in and not need it doing so often and it seems to be working.

I would say if you have a lot of grey coming through, either reconsider having a balayage, or do what I’ve done. I loved my balayage after years of very tired looking blonde highlights so I’m reluctant to go back down the highlight route completely.

Thank you, that's really helpful. I didn't really want highlights as I didn't want to have to keep getting the roots done and I'm quite used to doing my own roots but only in my natural colour
