DD’s nativity play - does cow person mean person dressed as a cow or politically correct cowboy?

I will obviously clarify tomorrow but am I very stupid in not getting what this is 😂

OP posts:

I wish they wouldn't faff around with the nativity. Ours were bog standard - a jesus doll, Mary, Joseph, Gabriel, extra angels, donkey, camels, wise men. Maybe a shepherd?

Little Donkey, Away in a Manger. There were no cow people or hoedowns!

SenseFromThoughtDivide · 22/11/2022 19:12

Well the Nativity in Love Actually had at least two lobsters

balalake · 22/11/2022 19:12

I'm thinking something akin to a pantomime cow, one of the animals in the stable.

Let us know OP.

Possibly a cow girl I’d think.
My Dd did a school Xmas show where they had a section with a stable hoe down!
Maybe it’s the same one!!

Ooh - one of my DC did that one as well - I remember quite enjoying it!

DMDCAGM · 22/11/2022 19:17

I've definitely attended a primary school nativity with kids in cowboy hats!

Benjispruce4 · 22/11/2022 19:17

Some nativities are not purely that but have other elements. One features a group of cowboys sitting around a campfire telling the nativity story. Could be something like that. We would just put cowboy/girl.

Butterflyball · 22/11/2022 19:18

My DD in reception is a cowgirl this as in 'howdy partner ' 🤣 so I would guess it's not an actual cow animal!

This was how it was worded which doesn’t add any clarity tbh. Surely a cowboy would be cowperson? I have no clue

It's Prickly Hay.

They'll be a cow boy/ cow girl but the letter should have been clearer.

It'll all make sense when you see it!

🎶 Prickly hay, prickly hay... 🎶

Rosio · 22/11/2022 18:48

Maybe it means the person who looks after the cows

I vote this. Cow hand. A sheppard analogue.

chineapplepunks · 22/11/2022 19:30

The letter says your DC chose to be cow person, do they have any idea? I did a nativity once at a nursery and the kids chose what they wanted to be!

ButAmI · 22/11/2022 19:30

She’ll be a cowgirl.

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 22/11/2022 19:31

Mine was a Stormtrooper one year Grin

DogInATent · 22/11/2022 19:31

Minotaur. Definitely a minotaur. There should always be a minotaur in a nativity.

PuttingDownRoots · 22/11/2022 19:34

My DD was a Midwife one year. With a mobile phone on which she was called to attend the birth. Nativities are bonkers these days.

Newlifestartingatlast · 22/11/2022 19:37

MolliciousIntent · 22/11/2022 18:47

I don't think there were cowboys at the birth of Christ, tbh

Schools can get very creative at writing in 30 odd new players attending Jesus birth.
cowboys aren’t such a stretch
we had an entire pub of underage drinkers in one commenting how full everywhere was 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Option 5, my new favourite!

That's what I'm thinking. Like a shepherd but for cows.

But short of a lot of pub attendees, or a full heavenly choir of angels , that means kids get left out,
that cannot happen , ever, these days,
🤷🏼‍♀️

cantkeepawayforever · 22/11/2022 19:01

My guess is that it is this:

Prickly Hay nativity musical

and so it will be cowboy/girl costume.

Ah you've cracked it I think but I'm highly disappointed and I'd ask your child if they want to go as a cow/person hybrid? The cowpeople need something to look after.

You need a cow if you're going to sing the cattle are loooowing

BornBlonde · 22/11/2022 19:46

I'm thinking shepherd

feellikeanalien · 22/11/2022 19:55

DD did Prickly Hay. I did like the Stable Hoedown. She also did one based on Strictly (Lights Camel Action) and one based on hotel inspection (the InnSpectors) where she was a tour guide. I got some good suggestions on here for her costume.

Nativity has moved on since my day😄

Ponderingwindow · 22/11/2022 19:57

I might show up to a nativity play with a Minotaur

Glumgal · 22/11/2022 20:02

I'm guessing they are doing this one... www.outoftheark.co.uk/prickly-hay.html
