There was a thread about this a couple of months ago, but not many employers seemed to have done anything at that time - maybe more have now that it's getting colder and Christmas is coming?

Has your employer made any extra cost of living payments to you, aside from your usual expected payrise or bonus, if you have one?

Nothing. I work for a charity and our costs are crocheting at the same time as the need for our services are rapidly increasing. No money to spare for staff COL payments.
On the plus side, I feel valued and appreciated by senior management, which I haven't in previous roles.

Rocketing, not crocheting!!!!

Nothing, no pay rise for me since 2020, when my role changed, many colleagues have not had a rise in a lot longer than that. Company does not believe in annual rises, in fact the don't usually give any pay rises. They are shit.
The idea of a Christmas bonus or CoL payment is laughable to them as they swan around in their swanky cars.
Yes I am bitter but also fortunate that I negotiated well in 2020 as I knew that it was my final pay (will retire within 3 years), and now I take my 'pay rise' by working under my contracted hours, they can't tell as I WFH.

No. Nothing so I’ve left for an employer who at least gives me a free hot meal every shift. Saves me shopping and electric.

I missed out on a payrise this year because I joined after cut off date. But everyone else got a minimum £1500 rise. We all get a £150 bonus in December which is better than nothing. I'll be included in payrise next year. It was between 5-6% this year.

Where do you work? Honestly, no one from my family or friends received £1000, I'm really surprised! Even the pay rises - my husband (who is in the same company 9 years) got only 4%....

One of the big 4 financial services firms.

£1000 for everyone up to the grade that gets an enhanced bonus.

Me: self employed so no. Will probably put prices up next year.

DH: had around £1000 earlier in the year, but nothing extra since cost of living crisis. Ironically works for British Gas.

Told they have to make money donations to food bank from their own money but company will match it to a company. And make sure to get lots of photo ops!

Can't really complain as they were given something earlier in the year, for some it was substantially more they did a fire and rehire in 2021 and so haven't enough employees and so needed to match market value to get employees.

I got a £2000 pay rise in July but I don't know if we will get any Christmas bonus this year.

Zero pay rise! Yes I repeat zero. I am aghast! Gd old public sector and yet everyone else strikes and gets a decent one 🤷🏻‍♀️

They have given a one off cost of living pay of a couple of hundred pounds and obvs it's taxed so it's hardly anything really, and pro rata for me coz I'm part time. Not even sure I saw £100 after tax and ni. Also this is coming from the bonus pot. So basically the very little bonus we do usually get is now gone and there is no pay increase at all this year. Bastards! Trying to make out they doing us a favour but basically just paying our tiny bonus 6 months early 🙄

Every employee at my organisation has had a pay rise of £1,925, back paid to April so we got approx £1.2k extra pay in Nov (less tax, insurance and pension).

I should have said, we're public sector and this is the raise agreed with the Trade Unions.

Yes, ours increased the London allowance amount we get. I also applied for a new role (same employer) and when I was offered the position, they very happily agreed to meet my (much higher) requested salary due to cost of living concerns.

We have got the local authority pay rise but our LA decided it was a great time to move to a new system for expenses and cut off the date for claiming earlier so we all got 10 days less mileage money. We’ll get it at the end of December but we’ve already paid out for the fuel!

I have a relative who has a cleaning company. She usually gives her staff wine at xmas. This year, she is giving £20. More useful.

A decent payrise earlier this year, an unexpected COL of £500 recently and our usual Xmas bonus this month. Super grateful for every extra penny.

4.5% payrise this month, and £1000 COL payment too.
Bonus will be paid in April as normal, and I get payrises every 6 months in my current grade.

But I’m working very hard for this, and expected to keep working and studying. Hopefully starting some Actuarial study next year and that should continue to boost my pay if I succeed - not an easy ride at all though.

We get a company wide payrise annually, usually 2-3%. I didn’t get this year, because I’d agreed a salary increase halfway through the year which apparently encompassed my annual raise. Realise we’re very lucky to get that, but it’s a niche and competitive market so they need to keep staff. Some on our leadership team are pushing for a one off cost of living payment for those under 40k, and it’s supposedly coming in next FY’s budget. Our place aren’t too bad but the ones holding the purse strings are quite well insulated from the COL crisis!

DH works for one of the big four and they’re all getting a thousand quid one off payment. Well, those on under 40K are anyway.

We gave everyone a 5% pay increase this year and in April we've decided to do another 10% increase due to the cost of living.

Our company hasn’t given any COL payments and also didn’t give any annual pay increases this year, or ever come to think of it. (Attitude of zero shits given by owners)
I actually haven’t had a pay rise for many years, 5+ I think, so very envious of anyone that even gets a couple of percent.

I work in the private sector, just not a very profitable one!
If there are any jobs around in the new year, I will be looking 👀.

I sit on 3 boards in a non exec capacity, and 2 of the three have given every permanent member of staff on payroll £1,000. One paid the whole thing in this months payroll, and the other £500 in October and £500 will be paid in December. You’d think everyone would be grateful, but some complained to HR that it resulted in a loss of tax credits and so they should have more. You honestly couldn’t make it up!
