What do you really need to spend money on but your putting off?

Hair is an absolute birds nest with roots for days.
Nails are awful, I used to get them gelled every two weeks and now they are a chewed up mess.
Need new vests, knickers and socks but that seems indulgent as nothing seems to be cheap anymore.
DD needs a new hat
DS is going into 12-18 clothes so he needs all the basics.
What do you need to buy but your putting off?

A divorce.

ElizabethinherGermanGarden · 23/11/2022 17:46

Root canal 😞

glamourousindierockandroll · 23/11/2022 17:53

Major = A new roof and windows

Medium = redecorating the bedrooms as theyre looking tired

Minor = heat protector spray, socks, eyebrow filler inner stuff

Endeavormorse · 23/11/2022 17:55

Tooth implant

BayCityTrollers · 23/11/2022 18:00

Haircut
New carpets
Getting someone to decorate the hallway
We put off doing our bathroom for about 10 years, it’s finally being done at enormous cost and the time it’s taking has validated our delaying entirely😜🤣

1000yellowdaisies · 23/11/2022 18:05

Clothes for myself, kids are okay for now but i look scruffy and need new stuff for work and leisure but can't afford it.
Sitting room needs to be redecorated but that's down on the list right now

Belleton · 23/11/2022 18:07

I have one pair of jeans that are about to get a hole where my thighs rub together so jeans definitely. I’m really putting it off though because of the cost. I need new glasses too so dreading that expense. Eldest has almost out grown his school shirts so will need them and a coat soon as he is almost grown out of last years. And that’s before I even start on the list of things needed on the house!

JohnsShirt · 23/11/2022 18:10

The dent in my car.
It doesn't affect usage so it's staying for a bit longer!

gianfrancogorgonzola · 23/11/2022 18:12

Two bay windows need repairing / sash double glazing 😭 I can’t bear the expense

smaller: school trousers, thermal vests, Christmas pjs, air pods x2, gold earrings, beauty advent calendar, a collapsible goal. All presents, waiting to see if Black Friday means any reductions before pulling triggers

1001Daffodils · 23/11/2022 18:14

Haircut. I have really thick, fast growing hair that needs skilled cutting to thin it out. My hairdresser left the area in June so now have an unruly mop on my head that is just increasing in volume as it grows (not in a good way).

I'm loath to part with decent money for a cut that doesn't do the job, but until I take the plunge with a new hairdresser I don't know of they are capable of doing the job. I definitely don't want someone hacking at it with thinning scissors!

Everything else I can cope with until the kids have another growth spurt, but my hair is driving me to distraction.

Kleptronic · 23/11/2022 18:17

Wooden front door and single glazing - needs replacing and a porch putting in, it's freezing.
2 single glazed wood windows - ditto.
The render on the front of the house is blown - internal plaster is going mouldy.
Ceiling in the hall is coming away (old artex) - bit worried it'll fall down altogether.

No money so meh.

Notthecarwashagain · 23/11/2022 18:18

This thread is both sad to know I’m not alone and comforting to know I’m not alone at the same time.

Mine is 2 broken teeth
car dent
car tyres
car suspension arm pin
shed which is falling down, but has electricity running to it and is also full, so combination of money, stress and faff for that one!

MillyMoo1113 · 23/11/2022 18:26

Bras that have both wires in. All mine only have one now😔

Laundry baskets for clean clothes. Ours are fall apart with spiky prongs here and there. Also the cats have claimed them and they are now covered in cat hair so I guess we aren't using them anymore.

Plastic pots for food leftovers. It seems such a waste but we need them desperately.

New bras.

Paschal I've got about a million takeaway containers if you want me to post some to you? Plastic rectangular with lids from the local Chinese takeaway. I feel guilty just putting them in the recycling!

Belleton · 23/11/2022 18:34

You’ve all reminded me I need bras too. 😩

Electric clothes dryer
Wallpaper
Paint

If you have a small fan heater, that works really well with an ordinary clothes airer, and unlike an electric airer, can be used elsewhere.

HerRoyalNotness · 23/11/2022 18:36

Fixing my shoulder. I don’t want to spend more money on surgery but I’m in pain every day. 😬 (US based).

Alphabet1spaghetti2 · 23/11/2022 18:42

New floor in front room and all that goes with it - replastering/skirting/painting. Can see through to the earth under the house as it’s a suspended floor from 1903. 🥺 fingers crossed it’ll be ok until next year when I might have saved enough ££££ to pay for it.

mamaduckbone · 23/11/2022 18:49

A new bin
Sooo boring but the mechanism on ours has broken and it's really infuriating

FearofQueefing · 23/11/2022 20:52

New bras. But I find bra shopping so eternally stressful. Have big boobs, need a lot of support, but also don't want to dress like my Nan.
