Just that really. National anthems, paying in cash for booze in Asda. Miss her so much x

Are these lyrics for a new version of the Sex Pistols' God Save the Queen?

PleaseTakeItOff · 21/11/2022 22:00

I never once bumped into Liz either buying booze in Asda or singing the national anthem.

🤣🤣🤣

antelopevalley · 21/11/2022 22:30

I never bumped into Liz buying booze in ASDA either. But I did regularly bump into the Queen Mother. I really miss her. She would often give me racing tips as she was buying her gin in ASDA.

Bouledeneige · 21/11/2022 22:30

I have met the Queen but not in any supermarket. Unless that was her working at the Waitrose fish counter? Threw in an extra salmon fillet... bless her.

HeadacheEarthquake · 21/11/2022 22:33

Enjoy the hangover you daft'un

FourChimneys · 21/11/2022 22:35

Did you know her well?

I can't say her death an impact on my life once the collective hysteria died down. But perhaps she was a good friend of yours?

You can still sing GSTQ though. I heard there was a transitional version for people finding it hard to adjust. God Save The Qwing.

CherrySocks · 21/11/2022 22:48

Ok I've started it off for you OP, but we need more lyrics:

I miss the Queen
just so much I mean
nationalist anthems
commenting from randoms

I miss the Queen
Her face when I was paying
cash for Asda booze
Just miss her I’m saying

(In place of first two verses of the Sex Pistols' God Save the Queen)

xxcatcatcatxx · 21/11/2022 21:56

😂 I mean because her face is on the notes xxx

You got that booze then, huh?

BMW6 · 21/11/2022 23:53

Did you think the Royal Pixies changed all the notes to the new ones overnight OP??

PickAChew · 21/11/2022 23:58

She probably sent someone to fetch her booze from Aldi, tbh.

RobertaFirmino · 22/11/2022 00:40

Aw hunni, I know exactly how u feel. I still miss Lady Di, the People's Princess and Kween ov all are Harts. Please remember that Queenie is always with u in spirits, just as she clearly is now. Whether u r on the bus, in the Asda's or on the khazi, Queenie is watching over u. Why not get ureself a Paddington Bare teddy to remind u of her every single day?

GreenDanglyearrings · 22/11/2022 00:41

Just because you saw someone on the telly all the time - you don't really know them. I'm sure she was a nice person but every interaction I saw of her - everyone faked jovial laughter at everything she said. I found it a bit painful to watch to be honest.

I vowed that if I met her - I would never do this. However, I tend to frequent Aldis instead of ASDA, which I know know was the mistake I made.

She was a comforting presence.

She was a comforting presence.

Was she?
She never stopped by to pour my gin, give me a foot massage or to tell me everything would be ok.

x2boys · 22/11/2022 17:40

Well she was 96 she had a very longlife and lived it in luxury ,comfort yourself with those thoughts

Coolyule · 22/11/2022 17:41

When I was buying booze in Asda the other week, I too was overcome with emotion about missing dear liz. Just really hit home at that exact moment

Oujiawoowoo · 22/11/2022 17:41

I take it you knew her personally OP?..

getoutof · 22/11/2022 17:42

I think you may have been buying too much booze

JaneJeffer · 22/11/2022 17:44

I was watching the England team closely yesterday to see if they remembered to say king.

But the money hasn't changed yet has it? I'm not in UK so can't br sure, but I thought I heard the coins/ notes with KC weren't out yet.

Not yet. There are some Charles III 50ps due out in December, apparently.

www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-63413134

It will take decades for QEII to disappear from coinage. George VI coins were still in use until the 1990s (shillings/5ps and 2 shillings as 10ps) and were only withdrawn when the size of those coins was reduced.

So OP will be able to remember the Queen in Asda for a long time to come!
