Yorkshire expression?? Up in Annie's room, behind the clock.

In the generation above me, members of my family would use the expression 'Up in Annie's room, behind the clock'. It means you don't know the whereabouts of someone or something.

The only other person I have ever known, who knew the expression, was an elderly woman who came from Yorkshire. My grandmother was Yorkshire-born, too, so maybe she brought it into my family.

Does anyone else know the expression?

Irish here.
Grandparents in Munster, a province in the south of Ireland would say,
"Up in Nelly's room behind the wallpaper." if they were a wee bit annoyed that you couldn't find something.
They would then add "Where do you think it is?"

Yes, this is the version I am familiar with.

Arse wouldn't be used in common parlance in my family.

What's for tea, mum? Shit wi' sugar on

No but my mum used to say " it is hanging off this hook on the back of my neck"

Dad used to see a man about a dog and he also used to go as far as there and back again

I wonder why people used to be so reluctant to give a straight answer.

My friends mother used to say, he can take a run up a downpipe, which always seemed fairly innocuous, until I realised what a down pipe was for.😂

A friend from the North East used to say when a room was full "we'll have to shove the littluns up the biguns arses. Always made me chuckle.
