I quite often have a song that will make me change radio channel when it comes on

This month it's Music for a Sushi Restaurant by Harry Styles, I don't know what it is about the song but my left hand just snakes out and punches a different pre-set on the car radio whenever I hear it. All of his other songs have been ok-ish up to now.

Last month it was Afraid to Feel by LF Systems.

Quite often it's an Ed Sheeran song, I really like some of his (usually the ones that are claimed to have been stolen from someone else, strange that) and really can't tolerate some of his others.

What are your 'can't listen' songs?

The beautiful south did have clever lyrics though ! Music to think about
Dance monkey is annoying
As was that ' ex's and ohs' or whatever it's called , her voice grates on that one

Anjelika · 18/11/2022 20:28

Ed Sheeran's Galway Girl. Don't mind his others tbh. More recently anything by George Ezra. Just so bland.

illiterato · 18/11/2022 20:28

Olivia Rodrigo. That woman needs some boundaries and to stop dating dicks. Also the Jo Brand Shelter advert which I feel bad about but I can’t stand it.

MY dad, dais and I also really inexplicably hate Dream Lover by Mariah Carey. Must be genetic.

the80sweregreat · 18/11/2022 20:32

I don't mind Mariah songs, but Dh can't bear them
Most Beyoncé songs are dirge
Survivor by the pussycat dolls ( I think it's them )
It's repeated over and over ..

BeyondMyWits · 18/11/2022 20:37

Anything by those with nasal voices... Bob Dylan, Arianna Grande, etc (never thought I'd see those 2 in the same sentence!)

SecretVictoria · 18/11/2022 20:37

Anything by: Oasis, Mariah Carey, Coldplay, Adele, Ed Sheeran, Robbie Williams. This list is not exhaustive.

the80sweregreat · 18/11/2022 20:40

I like a lot of the songs mentioned here, but I agree that overplaying of certain songs makes you fed up with them

AutumnCrow · 18/11/2022 20:44

George Ezra is deifintely a mute moment.

Does his parent own the radio or something?

the80sweregreat · 18/11/2022 20:46

That ' shot gun ' song was overplayed

barskits · 18/11/2022 20:48

Anything by Annie Lennox. Something about her voice is like chalk on a blackboard to me and I have to switch over. Sorry Annie, nothing personal!

A580Hojas · 18/11/2022 20:49

No! I don't think the Beautiful South have clever lyrics at all! I hate them and their awful awful dreadful fucking SMUGGERY. They can fuck off.

I think Rhianna has a superb voice. Can quite see why people don't like some of her output but she can actually sing.

whateverisleft · 18/11/2022 20:51

Beyonce. Particularly 'Single Ladies'. Absolute torture.

NCFT0922 · 18/11/2022 20:52

Cardi B
that new Nicki minaj One

Doowop1919 · 18/11/2022 20:53

MissFlimpkin · 18/11/2022 19:36

That horrendous Coldplay song( all of them are) that sounds like 1980s elevator music - disgusting.

Snap. I can't listen to any Coldplay. I want to rip my ears off.

horseflies · 18/11/2022 20:55

Betty Davis Eyes

and

Walking on Sunshine

Arcadia · 18/11/2022 20:57

Argh it used to be that stupid 'I'm gonna marry her anyway'.
I can bear that 'put a ring on it' song.
In fact anything about marriage generally cringe,
Anything by Sam Smith.

Sadly I pretty much like everything by Lizzo, Ed Sheeran, killers and Coldplay, even though I can objectively see that Coldplay are bland and annoying Blush

GravyDramas · 18/11/2022 21:01

I’d be here all day of I listed all the songs I hate. There are whole radio stations I can’t listen to without getting the rage.

Sonhs that spring to mind, though, are

Lovely Day by Bill Withers
Anything by Sam Smith, Ellie Goulding or Jess Glynne
And doesn’t everyone hate Dancing in the Moonlight by Twatloader?

PuppyMonkey · 18/11/2022 21:01

In our house, it will soon be time for the annual dash to turn the radio off any time we hear the opening bars of All I Want for Christmas. Gah!

RocketIceLollie · 18/11/2022 21:15

Anything by Bruce Springsteen. Dunno why but I just can't stand his music.

RocketIceLollie · 18/11/2022 21:17

And definitely Sam Smith too.

NoInvitesEver · 18/11/2022 21:20

Anything by Bob Marley. Just don't like it.

Horsemad · 18/11/2022 21:21

Torn by Natalie Imbruglia. Aarrgghhh, hate it!!!

cobblers123 · 18/11/2022 21:22

We Built This City
Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now

Radio 2 must have shares in these two hideous songs the amount of times they get played.

Instant switch off.

the80sweregreat · 18/11/2022 21:24

The footie songs will be on soon and the Christmas ones too : surreal

longcoffeebreak · 18/11/2022 21:29

It would be quicker to name the ones that don't make me switch over
