Just wondering, no one of my friends pulled it off.

He wasn't my first boyfriend though for which I'm grateful. I think I would've felt stifled if I'd only ever tried it with him.

Blondlashes · 18/11/2022 12:21

I am - but he was my first boyfriend and we had other relationships before getting married. 19 years in January!!

The school stories are great age 13-19 etc but getting together age 20-22 and staying together isn't that unusual is it?

Two of my school friends got together at 18, still very happy at 44.
Dd and her bf have been together 6 years, they're 21 and have lived together for 3 years.

DornChorus · 18/11/2022 13:13

MIL and FIL met aged 13 and 15 and were together for 70 years until FIL sadly died three years ago.

I seem to remember some statistic that by 21 you'll more than likely have already met the person you're going to marry (although you may not be together by that point).

OhmygodDont · 18/11/2022 13:25

Met when I was 15 and been together ever since. Three children and married now 31.

Who knows what tomorrow brings but so far so good haha I can’t actually think of anyone else from school who’s is still with the same person though, a couple of people married to people they met at college but also a lot of multiple baby daddy/mummy’s going on too. Quite a few seem now to of been single for a good 3/4 years too after so much excitement in their early 20’s.

Badbadbunny · 18/11/2022 13:27

I'm by husband's first and only girlfriend. He's my second boyfriend, but first didn't last long and wasn't serious. We're now 56/57.

emmathedilemma · 18/11/2022 13:28

It’s 23 years since I left uni and can think of 4 close friends who are still married to people they met there. My brother met his wife at uni, that must be 15 years at least and a couple of their friends are still with people they met there.

Essexgirlupnorth · 18/11/2022 13:36

Nope my first serious boyfriend in sixth form boyfriend cheated on me repeatedly though didn't find that out till after we split up because I wasn't ready to have sex with him.

Glad I didn't marry my uni boyfriend though I was desperate too because in hindsight he was controlling. A couple of my uni housemates married their uni boyfriends one I still married with two kids and other is divorced and remarried bit we were surprised when they got married as were very on and off relationship.

PuddingBear · 18/11/2022 13:40

Yep, met at 11, got together at 16, married in our 20s and had kids in our 30s 😊

Chuckle94 · 18/11/2022 13:44

Been with my partner since 2014 when I was 19, then in 2017 he went to uni in Wales, 4 hours from where we live. We’re still together. I didn’t meet him at uni but was in a relationship with him when he went and got a degree
he is my first boyfriend

MrsMigginsCat · 18/11/2022 13:52

I knew my dp at school - we had huge sparks but both had boyfriend/girlfriend so didn't do anything but lust at each other plus a cheeky snog.

Sporadic contact then met up again 13 years ago when both getting divorced, couldn't be happier.

I love this! 2nd or 3rd time round love gives me so much hope, no matter how grown up or cynical we get we are still capable of loving again. And extra gorgeous that it was a school days crush

BeeDavis · 18/11/2022 14:39

I got with my first boyfriend when I was 19. We just got married 7 months ago, have a little boy who’s 1.. have been together 10 years! We are friends with a couple who have been together since they were 14! They had a little girl a couple months after our son was born.

motherofawhirlwind · 18/11/2022 15:01

Not first boyfriend but first serious relationship and only person I've slept with. 27 years strong.

I met DH my first night at uni. We moved in together 3 days later, married when I qualified as a doctor, and were together until his untimely death at the age of 36. I never remarried and still love and miss him 31 years later.

That's so sad, I am sorry for your loss

WhatTeaspoon · 19/11/2022 18:23

My Mothers friends from school were together from age 14 till one died in their late seventies. I know one couple but they are still only 30.
