Hi all
i'm embroiled in elderly mummy stuff (respite care) so keep getting home about 10 and finding the world has changed a lot in a few hours!

is Twitter going, is it melodrama? Mass hysteria? AFAICS the facts are they are closing their offices for the weekend?

thanks.

I like Elon Musk but I would love to see the end of twitter. It helped ruin my longest friendship

I hope it burns around him. Can't stand the man.

Me too.

A lot of people are moving to Mastodon.

Although from a few weeks ago, this is worth a listen. Triston Harris you might recognise from The Social Dilemma documentary.

I admire the work Elon Musk does and hope he makes twitter a better place. It is a pretty grim place when you venture out and around freely.

It's a foul misogynistic incel cesspit so hopefully this will be the end of it.

This!

But to answer your question, what is happening is a guy with no concept of morale bought a company and bullied its employees lots until no one wants to work there anymore 🤷‍♀️

He says he works 24/7. But he’s on a $56 billion salary. Bit different from his employees innit.

depending on what you mean, there will be more of that with him.

This is the level of chaos

Alex Cohen [on twitter]

I was laid off from Twitter this afternoon. I was in charge of managing badge access to Twitter offices

Elon just called me and asked if I could come back to help them regain access to HQ as they shut off all the badges and accidently locked themselves out ''

Apparently as it is so well designed it will keep running for a while without human intervention but the minute something goes wrong it will fail as all the maintainence engineers have gone

Lots wrong with Twitter content but many good things about the platform too - seems a shame to me that it's been wrecked by one man's vanity

That turned out to be a parady account and not a true story

but interesting that Elon would comment on that thread and keep the joke going, when all accounts paradying him were locked due to breaking terms of service

I think you mean a $1 salary + stock options - wouldn't want to be paying any tax now would he!

Twitter isn't a cesspit if you follow nice people.

That of course doesn't mean there aren't shits out there, but that's not because of the platform, which is just a tool

Musk has come in and Done Stuff before fully understanding the inner workings and has failed to carry the staff with him. If he comes to his senses, appoints someone who knows that they're doing to actually run the place and becomes more of a sleeping partner, then all will be well

All the tech giants are reducing staff headcounts at the moment, it seems. But only Twitter seems hellbent on provoking a haemorrhage

TurmericFan · 18/11/2022 17:58

For those who think Twitter wasn't always a hellsite, here's a reminder of what is was like in the good old days.
