Advice for restaurants in Nottingham

Hi, would anyone be able to recommend a restaurant in Nottingham? It's my son's birthday soon and I'd like to buy him a voucher for a meal with his girlfriend.

I've looked on Trip Advisor and Time Out and some look lovely but then when I look at reviews they are not so great, eg Hart's Kitchen looks nice, but some reviews say it's a bit old fashioned decor wise (although the food seems great).

The voucher will be for £100 so not Sat Bains 😂but somewhere nice. They like all sorts of food. I don't live in Nottingham so don't really know.

Many thanks

Memsaab is overrated and quite old fashioned. It's fine dining Indian but without the flavour to back it up.

On a tangent if you want amazing modern Indian go to Opheem in Birmingham! Absolutely excellent!

Oh crikey they all look lush! I think Iberico might be the one. It looks like such a cool place. I think they'd like it.

Thanks again everyone. I might try a few of them myself when I go and visit him.

Iberico world tapas is fantastic. The food, the ambience, service - everything!

Much prefer it to Bar Iberico

Perkins, they do a lovely Sunday roast too! Yorkshires are massive

Where is Fat Hippo or Perkins? Live in Nottingham but not heard of them!

WowIlikereallyhateyou · 17/11/2022 19:33

Perkins is at Plumtree isnt it, way out of Nottingham.

One more suggestion! If you like the look of Alchemilla but it's too pricey, I really recommend Sans Patrie on Canning circus. Still tasting menu style but much better value. I've been twice and thought it was really good, with a very reasonably priced wine flight!

Iberico is really good too though 😁

Kushi-ya is the one atm. Higoi in Lenton is also fun.

Kushi Ya in Nottingham was named as Jay Rayner's restaurant of the year a week ago in the Guardian. It's not expensive, but might be hard to get a table now with that recommendation. A friend who lives in Nottingham confirms it's excellent.

Far Hippo is down Broad Street opposite Broadway Cinema. It's a chain burger place so not sure why it was mentioned.

Totally agree. The food is outstanding. The service is dreadful though!

Interesting, all the different views, thank you. Yes, re Nottingham University, and some of the things mentioned, will bode me well for the next few months when it's his birthday etc.
