Alternative advent calendar for kids?

Shock horror, my 4yo doesn't like chocolate! Are there any alternative advent calendars out there for kids? Had a look briefly at toy advent calendars but most seem to be Lego or 'squishy' toys (he's a bit small for Lego and don't want 24 random squishy toys going to landfill because he gets bored of them). Any suggestions?

Ours have a lovely reusable wooden one where a Nativity figure comes out every day (angels, animals, palm trees, manger etc) and you build up the stable scene with them bit by bit. Rapidly becoming a family favourite, and no tat involved! Think it was from JoJo a couple of years ago. They might have had other ones too.

I’ve got one and I love it.

One of our local charity shop does a book one for children. You send them age/type of books for your child and they give you a pile of 24 books and a soft toy for Christmas day. I think it's lovely and would have got those for my children if they'd been younger, but you could do your own from charity shop books.

We just do a picture ones. My eldest is allergic to milk and the dairy free chocolate ones are expensive.

We're vegans and don't have milk either. The dairy free / vegan calendars aren't expensive anymore :) you can get them from most supermarkets for the same price as the dairy ones.

We've just got a Peppa book one - different mini book to open and read each night. You can get loads of other types, like Marvel etc.

We had a Gruffalo one last year.

I have a similar advent calendar woe this year as the little one living with me now is tube fed, non-verbal, blind with a huge developmental delay.

@Kindofcrunchy I have seen them in the supermarkets but even so, not keen.

Also add in youngest will want the same calendar as her brother, but she doesn't like the dairy free chocolate.

On so many levels it's not worth the hassle so we we do picture ones.

Tbh I'm not sure the kids know that you can get chocolate ones.
