Placebo tablets in blister packs

DS15 has finally took antipsycotics today. 🥳🥳🥳

However how we did it was me and DD also took a paracetamol at the same time. But given he needs to suck not swallow the risperidone im not sure if he wont get smart tomorrow.

It would help if there was some kind of something very small and round that comes in a blister pack we could take at the same time as DS. We might run with a saccharine tablet as it looks right but if it came in a blister pack it would be better. I wondered if mumsnet hive mind could think of a solution

Ate there any types of chewable/suckable vitamins that come in blister packs?

zippalippa · 14/11/2022 19:01

Pharmacies will put multiple tablets into blister packs for people who struggle with memory etc. Perhaps ask your local pharmacist if they could package the aspartame if you paid a service fee?

There are DIY blister packs available in America but the cost and time to import may be prohibitive.

Tesco indigestion tablets come in blister packs. You can chew or suck them.

Bassets gummy vitamins come in blister packs. They don’t look like tablets though so that may not help.

ElizabethinherGermanGarden · 14/11/2022 19:05

You can get ibuprofen as a suckable/jelly capsule, or the sugar coated ones are okay to swallow dry. Alternatively, what about something small like a hay fever tablet that you can take without water? Or your contraceptive pill if you take those?

RNLD1981 · 14/11/2022 19:06

I think I remember Resperidone are small and peachy coloured. If so, there vitamin c tablets in the same sort of colour and size

WeWereInParis · 14/11/2022 19:07

Can you check whether his pills are suitable to be put in those pill box things with the days of the week on them, so his don't come in a blister pack either?

MichelleScarn · 14/11/2022 19:07

How old is dd? Don't make her take medication she doesn't need. Does she want to do this or is it your idea?

KitchenSupper · 14/11/2022 19:07

Pro plus

Annabananna1 · 14/11/2022 19:07

Yes pro plus. It's caffeine

Luckydog7 · 14/11/2022 19:08

Vitamin d tablets can come in blister packs. Also antihistamine (expensive though)

I would browse your local health food/supplement department and find a vitamin or other harmless pill.

You don't think DS needs antipsychotics? They're hardly prescribed for fun.

bitfit · 14/11/2022 19:11

Ignore me, sorry. I misread your post PP

Samii89 · 14/11/2022 19:14

What about the calms tablets in the blue box? They come in blister packs x

She's taking paracetamol not antipsychotics 🙄🙄🙄. She's 16 very much has her own mind and was taking paracetamol for joint pain anyway. She was looking for some paracetamol metlets we used to have, but we couldnt find them so went with what we had given DS was unusually compliant.
She did not like sucking it though 🤣🤣🤣.. DS does very much need the antipsychotics sadly.

I will take a look at the anti indigestion tablets. But if the pharmacy can blister pack some sacherrine tablets that would absolutely be the best result.

DS knows the look of vitamin D tablets and the pill organisers unfortunately. He's meant/used to take both but binned two weeks of vitamin D and medicine in tablet organiser's because he thought they were poisoned. (Really was Inexplicable he decided to take it today)

Would this do? They're suckable/chewable Vit C and zinc, so not a bad thing to be taking anyway.

The image is from an Arabic website because it was the only one that showed the blister pack as well as the box, but they're available in the UK too.

Zincovit C

Why the passive aggressive eye rolling? DD age nor Gillick competence or fact she takes anyway not mentioned in your OP. She could have been 6 and taking them to join in because her parent told her to?

And no didn't mention ds or his need for his prescribed medication at all, my post was in relation to the DD also taking paracetamol at the same time to encourage him to take his.

WTF don't take a fucking anticholinergic for shits and giggles! They're linked to dementia!
And pharmacies don't put bloody tablets in blister packs, manufacturers do that on production lines.
OP Rennies come in blister packs but they're quite large (might be good for something that looks like Lamictal/lamotrigine if he's prescribed those in the future).

ZeldaWillTellYourFortune · 14/11/2022 21:23

I hope you find a solution.

It occurs to me that implants could be a solution for people who resist medication compliance. I wonder why that isn't an option.

Not sure if implants would be a great idea for someone suffering from psychosis. They might try to extract it themselves.

I'd try and find a vitamin of some sort. Haliborange used to come in blister packs (do they still exist?)

Perhaps you might like to consider what your own post was insinuating and why I considered an eye roll the politest response.

Instead of asking why I didn't include DD age , Gillick competence or fact she takes paracetamol fairly regularly anyway in the OP; perhaps consider why your automatic assumption would be that I was forcing a 6 year old to take unnecessary medication.

Especially given the entirety of the post was how I could do this going forward with placebos.

It says more about you than me.

I get that to you I am just an anonymous forum poster, but behind the very bland forum post actually we are a real family who have gone through unbelievable hell for 11 months. This medication is essentially the last chance before DS is potentially taken into care because we can't safely stay a family.

Sometimes it's worth considering the human being behind the forum post before you make a smart arse response. Next time they might not be robust enough to provide an eye roll and a polite rebuffal

The problem is that things which are not medicinal in nature are unlikely to come in blister packs. I'd worry that ds might pick up the wrong 'medication' and not take what he needs.

Also, I'd worry what reaction you would get from DS if he were to find out you were lying to him that you and dd were not taking medication.

But, if you have to go down that route, Holland and Barrett do a number of small similarly coloured vitamins that would likely do the trick. They are bound to be safer than taking antihistamines or saccharine tablets etc. You can buy cold seal blister packs on Amazon for creating your own medication packs.
