Do I put salad on a fish finger sandwich?

Yay? Or nay?

This is a very last minute fish finger sandwich so can only use what I have in the house, which doesn't include tartare sauce sadly ☹️

I have fresh white buns, and some salad, and salad cream?

No salad you pervert. Maybe salad cream if no tartare but lettuce? God no woman.

Fish fingers and aioli for me. Lightly toasted on the fish finger side of the bread, handful of rocket for a bit of a peppery kick. Maybe a squeeze of lemon.

Lettuce - Iceberg only. And Tartare Sauce NOT, I repeat NOT Mayonnaise. Blurgh.

A thin layer of light mayo (better tartare sauce), and a layer of lightly cooked peas that pop in you mouth with every bite.

For me - bread with butter, 3-4 fish fingers and a squirt of ketchup then mash them up a tiny bit and gobble the sandwich! Mmmmm!

If I was making fish finger sandwiches for others - bread and butter, 4 fish fingers (‘cos that seems more generous!) a side salad and a selection of sources on the table (DP mixes ketchup and salad cream/mayo so I let people decide their own crazy ways!)

Spinach and mayo if no tartar sauce.

Pickled beetroot makes it the food of the Gods. Oddly perfect.

caringcarer · 08/11/2022 19:52

No, that would spoil it.

JaninaDuszejko · 08/11/2022 19:55

I'd say a nice bit of rocket is perfect and that tartare sauce is easy to make but will no doubt get told 'normal' people don't have capers as a store cupboard essential.

BeKindToYourMind · 08/11/2022 19:58

Ok so it will be iceberg lettuce! Majority seem to agree that iceberg is the way to go Grin also have tomatoes, and cucumber.

I'll stick a bit of salad cream on and see how we go. Starving now!

Well I don’t want to be normal if you can’t have capers in your cupboard!! What madness is this? I have at least four small jars in the cupboard and one (opened) in the fridge. Same with anchovies. Also have a jar of gherkins (essential for tartar in my opinion), but it’s usually at the back and only gets used every few months - hasn’t killed me yet!!

I eat really healthily most of the time with lots of fresh fruit and veg, wholemeal bread. However, for me the perfect fish finger buttie is white bread and ketchup only

echt · 08/11/2022 20:00

Salad! What is wrong with you?

Buttered white bread, preferably Warburton's, but I see you only have buns. They'll have to do. Sigh.

Twospaniels · 08/11/2022 20:10

Mayonnaise and a slice of cheddar

bellsbuss · 08/11/2022 20:11

I have rocket and mayo on mine
