Nothing finalised yet but we want to get all of our 5DC together(25,23,21,19 and 15) and our DIL so we can take them all out for a meal at the beginning of December.

We also have a tradition that I love(I started it when our oldest was little) I take each one of our DC out on they're own(just me and them)and we go and do some Christmas shopping together(they buy for each other, they're Dad and they're friends)and then I treat them to lunch or dinner out(with the 4 oldest we do consume a few drinks with our meals😁)I usually start from about the middle of November.

We'll go to a massive Christmas market/funfair as well nearer Christmas and my lovely DH(who knows I'm Christmas mad) usually plans somewhere nice to take me for the day before DD15 breaks up from school so we get a day together just me and him.

We've got our Christmas Eve breakfast booked at Toby Carvery and that's it. My dc are too old for Santa visits.

Panto tickets organised for Hogmanay followed by early tea for us and DM.

Christmas Eve will be cinema trip. Hoping to get tickets for Matilda.

Fivemoreminutes1 · 07/11/2022 06:15

I’m taking Dd and a friend to the Polar Express pyjama party at Empire cinemas - tickets are less than £10 each so not too bad www.empirecinemas.co.uk/synopsis/the_polar_express_pyjama_party/f4319/
We’re also doing this elf trail www.forestryengland.uk/high-lodge/elf-trail which I think is free
Then there’s the usual Nativity service at the local church.

ShadowPuppets · 07/11/2022 06:16

Little ones are 2y and 5m so not much, but we’ve got tickets to a lights display at a local RHS place which hopefully will be nice for them. Looking forward to when we can do more with them!

ShadowPuppets · 07/11/2022 06:18

Oh and family service at church - for the very first time, it’s been online the past 2 years and pre DD we did midnight mass - I’m looking forward to that.

Cuddlywuddlies · 07/11/2022 06:32

If it wasn’t for my workplace I would have nothing organized but they hold

A Christmas party for kids
Discounted tickets for a really nice Santa visit
Discounted tickets for the local pantomime

thats it so far..

autienotnaughty · 07/11/2022 06:39

We are going to an Xmas lights event and to see Santa. Family do a party Xmas eve too.

daffodilandtulip · 07/11/2022 06:52

Panto 23rd, Carvery Breakfast 24th and Chinese in the evening are the absolute traditions that they would kill me if I broke (teens now).
We've also got a local NT light show booked, plus we'll visit a couple of others to see their Christmas tree displays that don't need booking.

PutYourShoesOnWereLate · 07/11/2022 06:55

Between two school plays, one DC in a theatre group Christmas show, same DC in a Carol service, both DC in the Church Nativity procession, Christmas eve Carol service, and the school Christmas fête, I'm all christmassed out!

PutYourShoesOnWereLate · 07/11/2022 06:56

Oh a lot of houses on our estate go crazy decorating so we'll do a Christmas lights walk like we do every year.

SpamIAm · 07/11/2022 07:04

We've got two light trails booked (both squeezed in before the youngest turns 3 and they start charging for him 😂) and a visit to the winter wonderland in a nearby city - it's only little but DD will enjoy the big wheel and we're meeting friends there :)

Twilightstarbright · 07/11/2022 07:04

@Fivemoreminutes1 that cinema thing looks great!

ilovebagpuss · 07/11/2022 07:26

Not much as middle teens now. Dd15 and I are going to the carols in the church and we will all go to our local tree light switch on event with a few market stalls and mulled wine.
Might Bob over to German Market in Bham.
Panto last year wasn't great so I have booked Six the musical for the summer instead!
That's it really, we always used to do a NT place for father Christmas when younger with friends and have a day out.
I do Christmas baking as well and a movie night.
Doesn't have to be big expensive events to be memorable.

Phos · 07/11/2022 07:35

We’re doing a Santa train beginning of December, our annual trip to Sundown with cousins a couple of weeks later and a Christmas experience at a local farm. We always attend christingle as well.

We live just outside a quaint little town that is a minor tourist attraction that has a lovely programme of Christmas events from end November that are free to attend like walking nativities and torchlight processions. We will have a wander to those since it’s so close.

Its probably overkill but we love Christmas and the kids are so young for a short time so we may as well make the most of it.

EsmeeMerlin · 07/11/2022 07:38

We are going to see the Snowman at Peacock theatre in London in two weeks. Got early release tickets so got them quite cheap. We are also going to a cheap and cheerful Christmas disco at a trades hall with my mil. Have gone for the last 3 years and the children have always enjoyed it. Then just the usual trips to see family and church services.

Nutrigrainygoodness · 07/11/2022 07:48

We are going to Edinburgh for 3 days. So Xmas markets, ice skating etc.
Then after Xmas we are off to Blackpool for the day to see the illuminations.

EstellaRijnveld · 07/11/2022 07:50

Just a panto & Matilda the musical

DesignerRecliner · 07/11/2022 07:52

We've got a big panto trip booked for 21st, the local play village's Santa experience the day they break up from school, 2x school nativities and tobogganing at the SnowDome in Tamworth.
I'm most excited for Lapland U.K. as we've not been before and everyone says it's incredible! I'm a huge Christmas lover and DC are the perfect 'believing' ages right now so we're taking advantage.

Whiskers4 · 07/11/2022 08:17

We have a meal out with friends early December and I think that's the only thing we'll do as a treat. DH hasn't had his oncall rota for late December, but we'll obviously plan to see family. We should both have extra days off over Xmas, if they're the same day, we'll do things like seeing the Xmas lights, local walks.

reluctantbrit · 07/11/2022 08:32

We are a group of 4 families and will go ice skating and a light trail together.

DH, DD and I have tickets for a carol concert, DD has her dance/music Christmas show and it's my birthday as well in December.

We may do another light trail after Christmas if I can get tickets.

rosesandferns · 07/11/2022 08:38

I have bought tickets to three children's Christmas concerts (one free, one v cheap, one fairly inexpensive and we are going in the cheap seats). Going to a local fundraiser Christmas fayre - again, very cheap entry. Possibly a trip to the local Christmas markets for hot chocolate/mulled wine and a wander round the stalls if I can be bothered, and might use our annual passes to a local stately home to see it with the Christmas lights up and do one of their craft days for children. Other than that just the preschool Christmas show, lots of Advent church services, and the usual activities at home like Christmas cooking/crafts/films. That feels like a fair bit for not too much money. We're skipping the expensive light trail this year and never really do panto/meet Santa etc anyway.
