The thing that puts me off Sebo is, due to Labradors, I empty my (shit) bagless vacuum probably 6-7 times or more a week. Even if the Sebo bags hold more I don't want to be buying, what looks like quite expensive, bags constantly. How long do the bags last, can they be reused?

They last ages and I have a hairy cat so a lot of his hair to pick up. I don't hoover every day but in the 7+ years I've had the Sebo, I'm still on the first box of replacement bags and there's still three left.

I don't know how it works but it seems to hold a lot of stuff before it's full and can be chucked away.

It's one of the reasons I like it so much and hate bagless hoovers with their constant emptying every couple of uses.

OrlaCarmichael · 07/11/2022 16:38

Bagged Sebo, best I’ve ever had. It’s heavier than others we’ve had which could be an issue, but it’s just amazing!!!

OrlaCarmichael · 07/11/2022 16:39

And the bags last ages

Having done Dyson cordless and shark 2 in 1 or whatever, and now having a Vax pet my order would be:

Vax
henry

screw the others. Don’t touch.

BHRK · 07/11/2022 16:43

Henry!! Much better than the rubbish dyson we had

Benjispruce4 · 07/11/2022 16:44

For build and efficiency a Henry. The only downside is it is quite heavy if you have stairs.

ItHasTheJuice · 07/11/2022 16:50

I love my Miele cylinder really good suction.

Sharks are awful in my experience, crap suction, really overhyped! Thought I was the only one.

Lanneederniere · 07/11/2022 17:00

My Dyson cordless is atrocious, biggest waste of money ever.

Henry is much more efficient.

😲 How many bags are in a box? Just 8 that I see online? in 7 years??? Is it magic?

I have to empty my bagless twice if I do a full house vacuum - more if the lab is in moult!

Puddywoodycat · 07/11/2022 17:07

Miele or sebo..

We have Miele cat and dog bragged with hepa filter

Spanielsarepainless · 07/11/2022 17:09

Miele Cat and Dog Max. But mine dates from before the EU limited the power, so no idea what the more recent ones are like. It's my second vacuum cleaner in 27 years. The old one is pensioned off for vacuuming the car or other jobs.

GenghisCalm · 07/11/2022 17:20

I have a shark lift away and I have had no problems with as long as you change the filters often enough.

I had a Henry and he was a total bastard, he was forever giving me the side eye, had a phobia about doors and changing floor types was enough for him to have a tantrum and roll about on his back like a wounded turtle.

Flyingbye · 07/11/2022 17:26

I want an upright but the thing that puts me off Sebo is the lack of cord retractor. Doesn't it get really, really annoying having to wind the cable by hand? Especially these days when so many are cordless?

I don't know why uprights so rarely seem to have retracting cords.

Or are cordless vacs good enough now to be the main/only vacuum in house?

cobblers123 · 07/11/2022 17:47

WeAllHaveWings:

There are 8 in the box I have, the bags really hold a lot of dust, at fur, dirt and anything else they pick up in my house. I don't hoover every day though, sometimes only twice during the week so the bags really have lasted me well.

You might use it every day so you'd get through the bags faster than I do as you have dogs.

OnlyTheBravest · 07/11/2022 19:46

Miele bagged c3 and brought the turbo head, which worked far better than the standard one on carpets.

Prior to this had a cordless Dyson and a Henry. Neither worked well for me.

MrsClatterbuck · 07/11/2022 20:30

I have a Miele as my main one plus a Dyson which I bought at Tescos which cost £150 on offer. We use it to just do quick clean ups and the Miele when doing a proper clean. Have had the Miele at least 15 years and still going well.

BeginningBridge · 07/11/2022 20:34

Another vote for Sebo. We have 2 and they have lasted for years (about 15 and 30 years respectively).

ClemmyTine · 07/11/2022 20:42

Sebo or Meilie.

RedDwarfGarbagePod · 07/11/2022 20:43

I'd like a Henry, I think, but I find that people fall into two camps about him. He's Marmite. People either love him or think he's an absolute cunt. Who's right?!

HeBeaverandSheBeaver · 07/11/2022 20:47

I love my cordless auto for wooden floors dog hair.

Upstairs is carpet and I have an upright sebo. Brilliant vacuum

I also have a Henry for downstairs deep clean but I find it hard to use compared to my shark which is super quick and light. The suction of the Henry is so good it's hard to
Move about.

SatinHeart · 07/11/2022 20:48

Henry is fab. Not that hard to do the stairs with one.

Before Henry we had an AEG bagless cylinder which was good and lasted for ages.

That said, I'd have been tempted by a Miele if our budget allowed.

I have 2 labs. I change the Sebo (FelixPet) bag about every six weeks -my choice to ensure the filters don’t get dog-smelling. I buy lookie-likie bags for about 1/2 the price on Amazon.
I have had this once since 2009 , when we moved house, I have replaced the filters once in that time. The Felix is relatively light, compared to the old-school Sebo and way lighter than my mum’s dyson.

yoshiblue · 07/11/2022 21:01

Another SEBO lover here! Had ours nearly 20 years now and still going strong. It is heavy though and would say we only use it on carpets rather than flooring.

namechangeagain3 · 07/11/2022 21:01

Shark. It's brilliant. I've tried various hoovers over the years and it's fantastic.

bevelino · 07/11/2022 21:04

pyjamafashionista · 06/11/2022 13:52

I bought into the hype regarding Shark and Dyson. Both were useless 😒 I found neither to have great suction power and I felt I'd been duped into following a fad. Without a shadow of a doubt the best for reliability and suction is Henry imo.

Agree, I have had Shark and Dyson and both lose suction after a while. I gave had no problems with my Henry.
