@Comefromaway - yes, really! The musical obviously didn't reflect my exact experience (didn't get invited to any barbecues for example) but it also was so true to what I experienced in many ways. I loved the show but don't have much to compare it with, only Book of the Mormons, Charlie & the Chocolate Factory and Matilda. Is Les Mis good? I keep an urge to see it!

I've seen a lot of musicals live, Les Miserables is probably my favourite, definitely in the top 3. Saw South Pacific recently which was very good. Can't wait to see Hamilton.

Jim Steinmann originally wrote the song Totale Finsternis as part of a German language musical called Tanz der Vampire. (Dance of the Vampires). It’s phenomenally successful in Germany (a friend of Dd is currently performing in it) although it flopped on Broadway partly due to the changes demanded by Michael Crawford.
