Awful Psychic Reading

whatanidiotIam · 04/11/2022 21:39

Has anyone ever had a really good psychic reading where predictions have come true?

I've just wasted £30 on a phone reading. The reader got quite a few things wrong and was patronising. She said I need to work on self love. I've recently never felt so good about myself and confident.

The reader was supposed to be a medium and I was hoping for a message from a Grandparent.

What an idiot I have been!

Clinton Baptiste, the Phoenix Nights psychic is worth a watch on YouTube.

A friends family once had a session with a psychic man, in their home, and it was free, he didn’t charge anything at all.
They told my friend, who was 17 or 18 at the time, with a dark haired boyfriend, that she would marry someone with brown hair and have three children, I don’t remember the rest, as this was absolutely the most ridiculous thing at the time.
I was also sent a message, never to wear opals. ( I wasn’t there, but that was sent for me)
My friend did marry her new brown haired boyfriend, years later, and surprisingly, had three children too
I’ve never worn opals.

“for every true, honest and talented medium”

There’s no such thing, only predators who pick on gullible and vulnerable people.

This.

Brown colour is the most common hair colour, I could have told your friend that. As for the children your friend probably didn't question trying to conceive the third of the truly believed what the psychic said.

Neither of those predictions are impressive.

1/2 chance of getting the hair colour right. 1/4 on getting family size right although possibly higher if your friend believed the psychic and so went for three. I’d fancy those odds in a lottery.

There is only who is any good that I know and all the others are garbage.

I'm really interested to know what draws people to visiting a psychic in the first place?

I’m guessing that a person has some problems in their life such as just having split from a partner and all they see is doom and gloom ahead. I think they hope a psychic will tell the that things will change for the better such as their meeting a new man, getting a better job etc.

I've seen one particular physic a fews times and she is amazing. Had always told me things that either weren't public knowledge or later became true. It's scary how many things she has told me that have been completely crazy that very shortly come true. I've also seen some rubbish ones but this one is brilliant

Woukd you mind sending me her details via PM?

Only once have I gone to see a Medium.

i was very disappointed as she was a Large.

Terry Prachett fan by any chance? 😂

I read tarot cards (mainly for me) nothing woo about them at all, just bits of pretty cards that entertain me for a few mins. My friend asked for a reading. I did it (positive reading.) He then kept mithering me for more, I wouldn't oblige

He then started looking to pay for a reading with someone. This worried me a bit as he's skint.

I saw a job advert for "tarot readers and psychics" the pays pretty good btw. The JD said reading for friends and family would be classed as experience for the job. I sent him it to show him to keep his money in his pocket and to catch on that it's all a bit scammy.

These phone lines are to con people who are at a low time in their life and are in need of support. I'm sorry you've been ripped off, but take that experience and keep it in your head.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 05/11/2022 08:27

There are IMO some genuine ones, but IMO very very few. A niece has on two separate occasions been told extraordinary things the person couldn’t possibly have known, but it was someone slightly known to her - who didn’t charge.

On one occasion it was about a newly deceased relative (not immediate family) who’d lived hundreds of miles away and had never visited niece’s area. Just from holding a small item that had been left to niece, the woman told her details about the woman’s life, inc. incidents from WW2 (nothing wholly predictable, like bombs).,And of a specific minor incident shortly before the woman’s death, which niece didn’t know about, since she wasn’t there - but which her mother, my DSis, who was there, later confirmed.
Again, no charge.

The rationalist in me would like to be able to explain away things like this, but I can’t.

mumarewenearlythereyet · 05/11/2022 08:36

Yes. I see a great one occasionally. Never for future telling, just want reassurance that recently passed relatives are okay. He was unbelievable. Everything spot on. A couple of things that didn't make sense at the time made perfect sense when I mentioned them to older relatives "oh, that was the nickname he had when younger" etc.

He's based in London but started doing readings by Zoom in lockdown and has carried on with it. Charges £35 a time I think so not extortionate (compared to what you'd pay a hairdresser for their time etc)

He makes it clear from the start every time that he is not a fortune teller. However, on the insistence of my late grandmother, he did tell me something once (he wasn't keen but she was a very persistent lady!!). When he told me I thought "no way, impossible" but it 100% came true. Right down to the date.

Please contact me for his details if you like. Never had a DM on Facebook before so if I don't reply (I'm not very technical) please get back in touch on this thread

I would love his details please. I can’t PM you. Can you PM me? Won’t work with either you or the poster I replied to upthread.

When I get the occasional urge to get cards read/psychic reading, I stick to Etsy and a budget of £5. That way if it's bollocks I haven't wasted too much, and if it cheers me up its only the equivalent to going for a drink/coffee and cake/etc.

Is he in Tottenham? Name begins with A? If so my SIL swears by him. She should know she’s been to loads. I’ve never managed to get an appointment though as he’s always so busy. But yes not a fortune teller. And if him apparently he always asks how you got his number.

Hi. Interesting comments on here! Thanks for your replies. No more phone psychics for me!

There is no such thing as a genuine medium. They are either scamsters or deluded.
Mediums have been variously credited (on this thread and elsewhere) with the ability to:

  1. See into the future,
  2. See into someone else's past,
  3. Read someone (living) else's mind AND
  4. Communicate with the dead (who, in turn, can also see into the future and pass on messages about it ).

Dear lord, why? How? How can you possibly believe this? How can your deceased auntie know who you're going to marry?
When you encounter the seemingly impossible, does critical thinking not kick in and make you ask how this is even remotely real, possible or likely?

YeahThanks · 05/11/2022 09:58

I had a relative who was a medium, she was absolutely genuine. Many members of my family have the gift, but she was the only one to work with it. She helped other mediums too and wouldn’t tolerate any scam artists. I’ve had a couple of excellent readings, ve found people via the spiritualist church. I did go once after my relative passed away thinking if anyone was going to come through it’d be her, but she didn’t. I often think I’d like to try again.

HermioneWeasley · 05/11/2022 10:04

@MonsteraDeliciosa there is absolutely no helping some people

IncompleteSenten · 05/11/2022 10:08

It's all bollocks.

I used to write horoscopes for a local publication. Many many years ago.

I had people say how amazing it was, how it was spot on, etc.

I made it all up. Vague bullshit that said nothing at all.

If people want to believe this shit they will no matter what.

NotAnotherPylon · 05/11/2022 10:08

I've just wasted £30 on a phone reading.

This strangely jumps out at me ...

IncompleteSenten · 05/11/2022 10:09

Forgot to say the reason your con artist was so bad is she wasn't vague enough and it's harder to tell you're getting it wrong over the phone.

If face to face then your body language is a good guide for them.

MonsteraDeliciosa · 05/11/2022 10:13

No. No she wasn't.

TheBirdintheCave · 05/11/2022 10:17

I went to see someone once when I was sad following a breakup. The first thing she said to me was 'Who's David?' The only David I knew was my mum's hairdresser but she said 'No that's not it. It's someone close to you.'

I wanted her to say it would all work out with my ex but she said she didn't want to lie to me and that at best we would just be friends. She then said 'But someone new is coming really quickly whether you like it or not.' I scoffed as I was really heartbroken and couldn't imagine being with someone else or even looking for someone else. I truly believed my ex was my last chance.

She also made a comment about me living in Australia which I was again against as I had no plans of travelling there as it doesn't interest me.

About three weeks later I met my husband, whose name is David, and our first house together a year later was on Adelaide Road 🤷🏻‍♀️

So... yeah. I definitely don't believe that all psychics are real but this one was right about things for me. I can't explain it.
