The water troll believes things like we’re being poisoned by the water we consume and they always have conspiracies that have to do with waters/lakes etc. I genuinely find them quite interesting as I really feel like they believe what they’re saying! I’m sure there’s more too them but I usually miss their threads

The water troll is fake.

I posted on one of their threads recently to make a snarky comment about sea monkeys and they replied.

They then started a thread about sea monkeys a few minutes later. Can’t remember details (got zapped very quickly) but something along the line of their son had sea monkeys who were growing very large and serpent-like.

They’re a joker.

Generally a picture of some black plimsolls and being all wide eyed and innocent asking if they're suitable for school. That's literally it. Once they veered into Ugg boots with the same question and the picture posted was of some really well worn filthy Ugg boots. Absolutely bonkers, no request for pictures from other posters.

Omg they are now on Facebook! They constantly post on the groups I’m on of a young girl with her head cropped out in grey tracksuit wearing plimsolls saying that the school have complained about her plimsolls but they post it constantly over loads of groups

Sparklingbrook · 03/11/2022 20:47

Yikes @SpinningFloppa they've broken out. Shock

I saw the boxroom troll a couple of months ago. And the tights troll.

There was a baby names troll for a v long time. They liked names ending in -lyn in particular. And a children's clothes troll who posted very bland threads but was peculiarly recognisable and favoured the same three brands.

What was the boxroom troll about?
These people are crazy 🤣

Sparklingbrook · 03/11/2022 20:48

Water Troll is just bored I think, and now we are bored of them.

KitchenSupper · 03/11/2022 20:49

I just love the bison incarnation of the water/m&s/bison troll. He/she sets things up so unobtrusively then takes it in an insane direction so fast.

I love how everyone just recognises them instantly now rather than getting drawn in. He/she needs to change their obsession.

DorritLittle · 03/11/2022 20:51

What is the M&S troll?!

ElizabethBest · 03/11/2022 20:51

Oooh plimsoll is back?! I miss beanie. And crumbs.

DebbieDoesDoughnuts · 03/11/2022 20:51

Does anyone remember the “what does this mean” troll?

They'd start a thread with a title like “Can anyone tell me what this text means” and then a thread along the lines of-
A woman in work was putting her coat on to leave and said she’ll see me tomorrow. What do you think of this interaction? Do you think this woman sees me as a friend?

At first I thought it was just someone who was maybe neurodiverse and struggled with social interactions but the threads got weirder and weirder.

If they believe what they are saying than surely they are not trolling?
Why are their threads being deleted?

Do they have a foot fetish? 🤢
So weird

There is a names troll. Someone on MN started a thread about it recently, pointing out that the person has posted repeatedly asking about the same names on MN, reddit, Quora, FB etc. By a long-winded process people on the thread traced them back to a young woman with special needs. I don't think such threads are necessarily always malicious. Sometimes people have obsessions.

Sparklingbrook · 03/11/2022 21:00

There used to be a 'Creative Writing' topic some of these might fit in there. But if MN are deleting them there's possibly more to it , but TSSDNCOP as we know.

NellesVilla · 03/11/2022 21:03

There was a crazy one about a step brother and sister being caught shagging by the new wife a few week’ back…

Because they’re just on here to chat shit.

If I came on here every day and said ‘the Earth isn’t round, it’s flat’ and kept getting people to engage with it. I’m just here to troll. Fair enough I may believe what I’m saying but I’m still here primarily to chat shit

thiccapricot · 03/11/2022 21:16

Well, this isn’t from MN but it might make you laugh!
I used to work in a customer service centre for a well known department store. We had the ‘handkerchief troll’ who used to call us up and ask us to search a specific set of handkerchiefs on the website and ask us to read out the description to him. Then he’d ask all sorts of technical questions about the handkerchiefs. He was infamous throughout the call centre

BenCooperSuperTrouper · 03/11/2022 21:21

Haven’t seen the Unexpectedly Naked in a Medical Setting for a while.

Usually in a mixed A and E with a flimsy gown, or having their clothes cut off in public by ambulance crews after a road accident.

Good times.

Oh I remember this one. Really irritating after a while!

picklemewalnuts · 03/11/2022 21:51

I worry about the mental health of the M&S troll. When people join in or get sarcastic it bothers me.

Do you really think they are the water troll too?

We use the word troll pretty loosely on here, I think.

SusanPerbCallMeSue · 03/11/2022 21:55

No one has said what the M&S troll posts about? Why won't anyone tell me? Is it Top Secret?

Something about not getting a job there, the manager has a vendetta against them, thick cut chips, steak.
It's just nonsense really.

VladmirsPoutine · 03/11/2022 21:57

So there are various brands of trolls Confused boggling really. But I'll never get my head around a poster warning other posters not to talk about their tights or something incase the OP is a troll - the internet is a vast mammoth beast, why would someone get their kicks on a parenting forum when every other post is going to be along the lines of which dernier (sp?) is the best one Confused

Madeintowerhamlets · 03/11/2022 21:57

I feel like I’m on mumsnet a fair bit but I seem to miss a lot of these troll threads. I have seen two of the M&S threads & I did catch the bison one. Never come across the water or plimsoll troll. I agree the term is used quite loosely on here.
