My cat has pooed on the hob!

I'm gobsmacked. She is always shut in the kitchen overnight and normally uses her catflap to go out, so we don't have a litter tray. There have been no accidents in the last 4 years. The rain was heavy last night, but why the hob?

I won't post a photo.

OMG......whyyyy?
Mind you I found a mummified turd behind some furniture yesterday. It could have been there for months, even years.

My cat usually went outside to do his business and had a cat flap to allow access from the kitchen to the back garden.

Almost always fine, and 95% of the time he went outside. I did find though that he liked to have his litter tray available as an option, especially when the weather was bad. He would use it the rest of the time.

I also found him using the litter tray more as he became older and less agile. He became more of a house cat then as he naturally slowed down.

Was she scared by fireworks maybe?

Gosh, so many threads on here recently about this sort of thing, I hope someone isn't enjoying this unduly.

I minded a cat for a long weekend when friends were away. She ate all her food but didn't poo for four days. When my friends got back she did a huge one on top of the bedroom wardrobe, presumably out of spite..

Helenahandkart · 05/11/2022 14:57

Maybe she didn’t realise a poo would come out. Maybe she thought it was just gas.

SparklyFoot · 05/11/2022 15:06

But are you a shoes off household? 😆

Pixiedust1234 · 05/11/2022 15:22

Lesson learned OP. Get a litter tray. Your poor cat must have been desperate and frightened (of going outside) to do that.

Mirabai · 05/11/2022 17:55

Or she doesn’t want to get her paws wet.
