Which poker game to teach DC?

As the thread title says really. We want to start playing poker with DC (21 & 18). There seem so many different types and some sites say 5-card draw as it's the easiest to learn but others say Texas Hold 'Em because that's most popular version.

Any thoughts? Preferably the one they can play at uni.

We'll probably get some chips, but will start with pennies from the change jar. Thanks.

Definitely texas hold em for ubiquity, it's the one everyone knows. Omaha hi low is quite well known too and more complex!

5 card draw at first as it's easy and they can learn the hands, then Texas Hold 'em. I don't think Poker without stakes really works though.

It can be a fantastic way to have some family fun and maybe even a few lessons in probability and strategy.

As for the choice of the game, both 5-card draw and Texas Hold 'Em are excellent options. If you're thinking about what they can play at uni, Texas Hold 'Em might be a great choice since it's incredibly popular and widely played. Plus, it's a game they can easily find tables for.

Starting with pennies is a smart move, and it keeps things fun and lighthearted. And if they get interested in delving deeper into poker, they could always study poker to up their game! Enjoy your poker nights with the family!
