Should I try for Glasto tickets knowing the big C is knocking on my door?

I dont mean to sound flippant, Im just trying to get my head around it. Yesterday I went to see the haemotologist, my bloods are fine however the lump on my groin is not. Its about 5cm on the ultrasound. Ive had two weeks to google and have given myself some kind of lymphoma. Anyway the chap barely examined me. Well he checked my neck and armpits. Nothing. I went to take my trousers off and he said no keep them on. He touched the lump for ten seconds and said well, you have cancer😮 then he said dont worry dear there is much we can do. Never worry until you have to. He strongly thinks lymphoma and has referred me for a biopsy and my next appointment is in a months time. I feel fekking fine. Small weightloss die to stress and I have been itching for nearly a year which I put down to my new painkillers. God, I just want this biopsy done with as now ive started to imagine secondaries.

anyhoo I havent told my Glasto friends. Should I? Its a nightmare getting tickets but we have been for 20 years. Its our thing. We now glamp. Tickets out tomorrow. Should I go with the flow and try for them? Will it be something to aim for? Is Taylor Swift worth it? Can you go to a festival if youve had chemo? Will it be over with by them?

i feel like im living someone elses life😕

Best of luck with the tickets hunt and the biopsy results.
Just wanted to say again that cancer treatment has shit bits but it's not like the tv with a montage of misery. Life does continue and you do laugh too. 🍀

Ah that’s good! No luck here. What about your group signing up to volunteer with Oxfam or water aid?

That’s good, the only way I’ve ever managed to get to go to Glasto is by volunteering with Greenpeace! I don’t think I’m persistent enough. No idea how people get tickets but glad you got some OP!

Ah thanks @Madeintowerhamlets , I’ll add Greenpeace to my list to sign up with 😊

Get the tickets!

If the worst comes to the worst, and you do have a lymphoma, you might be well on the mend by the end of June. I appreciate that there are different types of lymphoma, but DM was diagnosed on Christmas Eve, and had completed treatment by the end of May. She went on holiday in the middle of June. A family friend was diagnosed 3 weeks later, and discharged a fortnight sooner.

Good luck going forwards, but get the tickets x

The radiologist doesn't give results.

My dp's radiologist confirmed probable testicular cancer.

We went down the corridor to the oncologist who officially confirmed it based on ultrasound alone.

DarlingDarwin · 06/11/2022 21:00

Get tickets. And get a second medical opinion.

QueefofSheena · 06/11/2022 21:08

So glad you got tix. Four years ago this month I was dying on my arse from chemo (breast cancer) and one of my close male friends literally propped me up at a gig. One of the best nights of my life and I’m still kicking. Grab it by the throat OP

Glad to help! I did litter picking which was not for the faint hearted but it was quite memorable. One of my friend’s got to go around blowing a whistle to stop people urinating in bushes 😂. I felt she had the better deal!

Rubyupbeat · 06/11/2022 22:12

Hope all goes well Friday, sorry you are going through this.
Glad you are still going to Glastonbury.

MumofSpud · 06/11/2022 22:24

Well Done for getting tickets
Me and the DC tried over 6 devices but no luck!
Good Luck with your diagnosis tooFlowers

I think I have another thread about this but I need to search more.

we went😀😀 just the three of us. All nurses so I was in good hands. Ive had chemo since January and its supposed to be the last one 🙏. Looking at the start of this thread, I never had any doubts that the medical team were mistaken and I still have all my faith in them. They have been fantastic. Unfortunately the primary cancer has not been found but the secondary in the lymph nodes has responded well to the chemo. It messes with your head, im not going to lie. Ive has every scan known to mankind and still it cant be seen.

thank you for your kind wishes. Glasto was fab but far too hot. I took it very easy and we glamped. Dont be fooled by that as its still camping by any other name😃

@EachandEveryone I was thinking of you and hoping you made it to Glastonbury and had a good time, pleased to hear you made it

Hi, just thought I’d up date. I’m going again next week but I’m not as fit as I was the last time I posted. As luck would have it I had a femoral bleed at home alone 8 weeks ago in my groin where the cancer is. They put stents in I nearly died I was bleeding so much good job I’m a nurse really. They said they had fixed the problem but a week later in hospital my femoral artery in my leg blew up it was like a water fall coming out of me I had to tell the nurse three times to pull the emergency cord as she was trying to find dressings for it. The emergency team came the reg jumped on my bed and put his fingers in the hole in my groin to try and close it. So so painful it was like an episode or ER agin I was told I might lose my leg. The consultant was 25 minutes away the longest 25 minutes of my life. He did a by pass using a fake artery and he’s promised it won’t happen again! All the surgeons have said I could go. The female consultant who I’d never met said ah, you’re the patient who conducted her own resus 😀😀. I think they were glad to get rid of me! The cancer had eaten through it and every single one of my scans had said it was encasing the femoral artery ☹️

the cancer hopefully hasn’t moved after this drama. The recovery has been horrible so painful he cut through all my leg muscles. I’m hobbling about.

the good news is I finally got funding for immunotherapy 😀😀 which I’ve only had one because of all the above drama. Fingers crossed it will work. It’s the only option now.

anyway, sorry it was long. I am going to Glastonbury and I am glamping over a grand each so I’m absolutely dragging myself there xx

I love this OP!

I remember your thread from the first post.

Fingers crossed for the dual effect of immunotherapy and GlastoTherapy!

A GlastoBlast!

Munchyseeds2 · 19/06/2025 17:21

I remember reading your thread at the start
Go and have the best time!
Fingers 🤞 for the treatment

EachandEveryone · 19/06/2025 20:30
