Pop stars have 'riders'. .

"She also demandied food and other drinks, the book says. Sandwiches had to be freshly prepared as Truss would reject any plastic-packed premade varieties.
For lunch she insisted on bagels or sushi, Cole and Heale write, but there was to be “absolutely no mayonnaise on anything, ever”, and a former staffer told them she would not accept fruit for breakfast. For overnight stays, a bottle of sauvignon blanc had to be provided in the fridge, the book claims"

Personally - a nice Merlot, flat white coffee machine and Jaffa cakes. That would be enough. But what would you need?

What a total non-story - I would expect that if she is travelling loads for work, the embassies etc she is visiting would ask for guidance on what she would like to eat and anyone who travels a lot/does extremely long hours needs to have some boundaries or they will end up having to eat shit sandwiches for weeks on end. None of these demands sound like diva pop star demands and asking for independent coffee sounds like she is trying to ensure that money is not spent in the likes of Starbucks.
And as for the comments on what a woman in her 40s should/should not be eating - I sincerely hope that was said in a 'I'd bloody to be able to scoff croissants like her' way rather than 'oh she'd better watch herself or she'll be getting middle-aged spread'. I suspect that part of the reason she has managed to retain her figure and work long hours/travel a lot with work is by having boundaries such as those outlined in the book - good on her!

Can I just have a personal chef to travel with me and make whatever tickles my fancy on the day?

This ^^
failing that i would have lobster, champagne and caviar 😂

cimena · 30/10/2022 19:13

worryingly i would also say no chain coffee except pret which is fine

kingtamponthefurred · 30/10/2022 19:22

Mayonnaise is horrid. I identify with the Fawlty Towers guest who demanded proper salad cream out of a bottle.

LapinR0se · 30/10/2022 19:30

Oh lord. I would be unbearable
breakfast - three dishes on rotation: eggs Benedict; avocado on sourdough; Bircher muesli. Freshly squeezed orange juice. Flat white with ground coffee beans only NO Nescafé or Nespresso

lunch - sushi or a prawn and rocket wrap with lime mayo. Sparkling water. 85% cocoa chocolate

dinner - fillet steak with chips or pad Thai or vegetarian curry with popadoms. Desert very dark chocolate mousse or fresh mango

White wine - puligny Montrachet
red wine - South African pinotage

Id be quite happy with packaged sandwiches, diet coke, coffee from anywhere and maybe some vodka

ODFOx · 30/10/2022 20:32

I love a pre made sandwich , especially if it's a salad one so the tomato is slightly fizzy.

My rider for a 24 hour stay ( if such a thing were permitted for me)
Still water, room temperature , lots
Black coffee, dark roast, one first thing, one after lunch..
Lunch: A chicken or grilled tuna salad with potato salad rather than bread.
Plain yogurt
Grapes or melon
Presuming dinner out. Decaf espresso after dinner
Bottle of Rioja and all the broadsheets when I get back to the room.

dementedma · 30/10/2022 20:37

Freshly baked croissants
Really good coffee
Still water
Home made soup with chunky bread
Nicely chilled Chablis

If it's overnight or a day stay I would want clean fluffy towels (white). Not new but washe and a dressing gown.. Earl grey loose tea. Fruit, apples, bananas, grapes or whatever is in season. If I'm Foreign Sec the local foods would be good. Maybe a dinner out. Suite preferably but large bed please. Pop star riders can be quite interesting. A lot ask for proper crockery backstage.
