What smells like the 90s to you?

I had a sudden random flashback today to this Charles Worthington shampoo that I used in the 90s as a teenager (when I could convince my mum to buy it for me). It smelled so delicious, and used to leave my hair really nice. Feeling nostalgic for the 90s now. What smells remind you of that era?

Body Shop White Musk
Body Shop Dewberry
Exclamation
Boots Vanilla body spray
Cerruti 1881
CK One

I had a mint swirl Glitterbabes lip balm in the shape of a flower and chocolate lip balm from the Avon. Both smells remind me of primary school.

Usingthisone · 29/10/2022 12:55

Boots fruit fragrance body sprays. The girls changing rooms at school smelt like feet and haribo.

ImustLearn2Cook · 29/10/2022 13:00

White musk and the body shop lip gloss in the little pots. The beach and sea breeze because I lived on the coast back then.

Incense sticks which were replaced by essential oils and diffusers.

MeltingWinterSnow · 29/10/2022 13:07

Tippex and Tippex thinner, does anyone ever buy Tippex anymore?

Spookypig · 29/10/2022 13:09
  • Charlie body spray
  • Anais anais perfume
  • Incense sticks
Although all of these things might be more 2000s now I think about it 🤔 definitely connected to my youth though and around the 90s/00s!

Central London street smells.
I live in the sticks now but worked in London in the 90s and just felt a lovely nostalgia for my early morning walks from London Bridge. Wet pavements, coffee shops opening up, buses, etc.

Yes! I lived in London in the 90s before moving overseas, I remember the first time I came back, arrived at Heathrow at 5am and got the tube, I remember the doors opening at an overground station and being hit with the smell of London waking up. It’s hard to describe but felt so lovely.

Other 90s smells for me, definitely impulse, amirige, Lou Lou, certuiti 1881 which is still one of my go to perfumes. I had a friend who only ever wore drewberry. For the lads Lynx, cool water and joop 🤢 still can’t stand it.

Strwaberry lip balm from boots. Smoky pubs

Blackmagik · 29/10/2022 14:12

Amaraige
Jean Paul Gaultier
Farenheit
Patchouli oil
White Musk
Givenchy Fluer d Interdit (sadly discontinued)

Jmoon126 · 29/10/2022 14:26

Bath pearls

Juicy tubes lipglosses

Paul Smith 'Floral' perfume in the white bottle with wide base and skinny top, yellow lid

Starbucks strawberries and cream frappes (yuccck)

The smell of offices...smelt much more like musty places because of vast numbers of lever arch files with paperwork, now everything is heading towards paperless or paper minimalism...

Chlorine

Those small jelly fruit cups that cost like 30p from the corner shop and were definitely a choking hazard

Smell of pick n mix at the cinema

The smell inside any roller disco type place

heidbuttsupper · 29/10/2022 14:27

Calvin Klein Escape, Eau de Eden and Noa.

The hand wash in John Lewis smells like Escape, and whisks me back every time.

Oh and Body Shop Roma.

Itstheimplication · 29/10/2022 14:41
