When to put out my Halloween sweets?

Halloween night is on Monday this year but I was wondering when people are going Trick or Treating? As I have a dog I always put my pumpkin/sweets out in the front garden. Thanks.

Yea definitely Monday only! (Although we had some teenagers come tonight cheeky sods).

Not the question you've asked, but if you put your sweets out, don't the first group just take all of them? They would round here.

You could always go back to wherever you came from?

Monday is Halloween, so Monday is when people will be trick or treating. If it's a weekend or weekday makes no difference! There may be parties over the weekend, but actual trick or treating is always on actual Halloween. If anyone came round before that they'd get short shrift!

@Justme10 I had a colleague tell me about this as she's from there and I was like is she winding me up 😂 I still don't understand it though but it's quite amusing!

That's like having Christmas Day on the last Sunday in December, regardless of the rest of the world!

If you just leave them out, how do you stop the first few kids taking far too much?

We hand them a big bowl of little packets of e.g. choc buttons or Smarties, but always say ‘One each!’

When we had a dog I’d shut her in the kitchen before opening the door - scary faces would really freak her out!

It's completely mad but I love that a whole town came together and decided to change Halloween to suit themselves

Only put things out/have them ready on Halloween itself here, regardless of the day of week it falls on. If anyone comes the day before I either dont answer or just say 'sorry, you're too early, Halloween is tomorrow'

Killieween is brilliant. No having to drag the kids out of bed for school the next day with a sugar hangover. Mine are out guising now and having a great time 👻🎃

On the 31st ... for an hour from 7pm-8pm

I did that last year. Not even a particularly rough area but some little gits nicked them all almost immediately! (Had baby and didn't want to keep answering door during dinner).
