Is anyone else slightly intrigued by Harry’s new book?

I wonder what he has said. Although I feel he is pushing himself even further away from his family.

I'd be interested to hear his version of events, just out of curiosity rather than the tabloids interpretation of it

Citycentre3 · 28/10/2022 09:34

I think it is fairly obvious really. Poor me, I was the unimportant one. I knew since childhood, William was favoured, blah blah. Glad I broke free, Meghan saved me, No one else understands me like she does, and a whole lot of self pitying rot inbetween.

ginghamstarfish · 28/10/2022 09:36

No, I imagine it's full of narcissistic whining about how hard done by he is. Even if you are for some reason interested, would you really hand over £28 for it? It will be purchased by millions of journalists, make a lot of money, and then written about endlessly in the press. Then it will be claimed as a marvellous success because it's sold so many copies ..... yawn.

tocahairchop · 28/10/2022 12:20

Not £28 on Amazon

Croque · 28/10/2022 12:31

It's really sad because he will be criticized and ridiculed for months which will further impact his mental health issues. All because of the fact that his wife has put him in a situation where he is expected to earn a lot of money to maintain a lifestyle she has been craving her whole life. Their codependency is the unmaking of him, not something to be lauded as a great love story. Sadly, he doesn't realize it.

Shitfather · 28/10/2022 13:27

I will read the headlines. I feel quite sad for him. It was painful watching him so publicly ostracised during the Queen’s mourning period. He seems so desperately lost and ill-advised. He’s battling an instruction he can’t win against, and is increasingly irrelevant. He wants to continue his mother’s work, but he should go on and do it quietly. I find him articulate, thoughtful, and relatable when he’s spoken on issues of mental health and identity, but is very self-obsessed. I don’t understand his need for putting it all out there. I wish him well.

Oh the irony

Good point ..hahahahhaha! I didn’t realise the circus had started but it has so I’ll be using the mute button for the Harry word!

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 28/10/2022 13:33

No. The Waterstones' blurb for it is cringeworthy, but then I suppose 'bloke who grew up with privileges most of us can't imagine whinges and whinges and whinges in the first of three volumes' probably didn't strike the right note.

I wonder what the Queen thought about him. I wonder did she get on with him or private or did she despise him after the Oprah interview.

Well he's her grandson so, while she may have been exasperated or disappointed by his behaviour, I imagine her basic feelings for him wouldn't have changed.

She possibly rued the day he ever met Meghan though.

Iamacatslave · 28/10/2022 14:50

This book should be left in the downstairs loo, next to the anusol wipes.

“It is not a book to be lightly thrown aside. It should be thrown with great force" - Dorothy Parker (allegedly).

£14 on Amazon for hardback or Kindle format.

It would be brilliant if no one bought it, no one at all, tumbleweed. Sadly people are far too nosey and I think it'll be a bestseller.

I won't be helping to line his pockets though.

PeterRabbitIsNotHere · 28/10/2022 15:17

Yes, I'll probably read it. It will be very interesting to see how the Royal Family react.

Comedycook · 28/10/2022 15:18

I really really want to read it. Can't wait!

I reckon it will be along the lines of 'recollections may vary.' If they react at all. I don't think he wants reconciliation, he wants abasement and apologies for what he perceives are the wrongs done to him; and he's not going to get that.

JohnsShirt · 28/10/2022 15:51

I got all excited and clicked and then realised it's not Harry Styles.

Cornettoninja · 28/10/2022 16:04

I’m curious enough that I’d read a thread or article on it but not enough to buy a copy and read it.

I don’t know exactly what’s he’s trying to achieve with this book (aside from the $$$$) but I suspect he’s going to end up doing himself more harm than good. I wouldn’t want to put my most vulnerable stories out to the public court.

I don’t know what any of my grandchildren would have to do to make me despise them. Yes, I could be saddened by something they’ve done but would always love them. Im pretty sure the late Queen still loved Harry.

MarshaMelrose · 28/10/2022 16:23

I think most autobiographies are unreliable to a large degree. The decisions on what to leave out or to overly stress the importance of other incidents can skew the perceived personality of the writer completely. A harsh word said by someone they like at the time of writing will be overlooked, whereas maybe if they were more on the outs, the conversation would be included. Times change our memories which are notoriously unreliable.
But hey, he's got to pay for those pipes to be mended and for the conjoined tree to be watered somehow.

DullAndOvercast · 28/10/2022 16:29

waterstones blub doesn't sell it to me - though I suppose it could be worse.

DullAndOvercast · 28/10/2022 16:31

It's in the half price sale - don't know if that's pre-order early bird price - still seems steep to me at £14.

MrsMitford3 · 28/10/2022 16:34

Def won't buy it as I don't want to encourage more disclosures.

I will happily read excerpts on social media

Chailatteplease · 28/10/2022 16:36

Yes. Will probably read it.
But I am nosey anyway, not necessarily because I’ve taken a side.

Blip · 28/10/2022 16:38

Why have they already deep discounted the book?
