Just wondering what spooky little visitors to your house get?

Little pre wrapped bags of sweets like those mini haribo

IHopeYouStepOnALegPiece · 26/10/2022 21:02

Whatever the local supermarket had on offer!

A few years ago we were running low so I drew pumpkin faces with a sharpie on a ton of satsumas and they went down an absolute storm so we now do a mix but the satsumas are always the first to run out!

DappledThings · 26/10/2022 21:07

Never had one round. If I did I'd maybe be able to offer them a Babybel or a toddler cereal bar.

One came to our house once in the 1990s. They got a gentle question from my dad about whether they could explain the liturgical significance of All Hallows Eve. Nobody ever came back funnily enough.

Same here!

Suzi888 · 26/10/2022 21:11

We never get any. I always get some Haribo just in case.

Slimjimtobe · 26/10/2022 21:12

I’m in Ireland and I give a bag of banshee bone crisps and haribo or something

if we ran out we would give a bit of money (few coins)

Notjustabrunette · 26/10/2022 21:15

Wrapped Lollipops, little bags of sweets, freddos etc.

AllThatFancyPaintsAsFair · 26/10/2022 21:17

Does any get actual trick or treaters? I mean is doing a trick a thing, don't they just expect some sweets

The shops are overrun with bags of sweets for Halloween at the moment.

Rosiepeta · 26/10/2022 21:18

We get so many trick or treaters, I buy a shedload of mutlipacks of haribo/ retro sweets/ lollies. One year we ran out I gave doughnuts!

mondaytosunday · 26/10/2022 21:18

Snack size sweets like haribo, twix etc. I have bought several bags of different brands (Cadbury, Nestle etc). We get about 100 kids.

ellieboolou · 26/10/2022 21:19

Well after last year I'm not opening the door! I had 2 tubs of sweets and a huge bag of lollipops, kids were grabbing handfuls they were falling all over the floor, parents just stood there looking. They lasted 30 minutes but the bell kept ringing.

I tell my kids to just take one and my eldest is autistic and still manages to understand "just one" unless the person at the door says different.

£1 and a couple of sweets from box of heroes

escapingthecity · 26/10/2022 21:20

We don't answer the door.

LoveBluey · 26/10/2022 21:20

We get loads so I've stocked up on the multipacks of sweets/lollipops and the small fun size chocs / choc buttons.
I also got a massive bag of individually wrapped chewy sweets in Lidl today. I'm going to put some of those out in a bowl while we go trick or treating ourselves and hope the first group don't take them all.

FionnulaTheCooler · 26/10/2022 21:21

I've bought a box of the mini harbour star mix bags. If we don't get enough guisers I'm sure we will get through them somehow 😉.

Topbird29 · 26/10/2022 21:21

Mini bags of haribo. Tesco had box of 50 for £4, or 2 boxes for £7.
Last year gave out at least 70 lots of stuff. Ran out of hatibo, so had to raid the snack stash for penguins, freddos and small kit kats

Wow! I'd be looking at minimum £50 if I did this!

Love it!

BettyOBarley · 26/10/2022 21:25

I buy a load of those bags of swizzells, haribo etc. We usually get about 100 kids... I hate it with a passion! Bring back the days pre-DC where me and DH could hide upstairs with the lights off!

OrangePomander · 26/10/2022 21:27

Haribos and whatever else is on offer. When the dcs turn up with their friends they get the halloween cakes and fancier sweets Grin

Dippydonky · 26/10/2022 21:33

Pre wrapped ‘whatever is in the supermarket’ chocolate. Some years we have loads of spooky visitors (one year we had over 30 groups!) other years it’s quite so we pick things we’ll eat.

This is so clever!

DD(13) doesn't want to do anything at all this year so we are turning the lights off, ignoring the door and watching goosebumps!

UpToMyElbowsInDiapers · 26/10/2022 21:37

I’m in Canada, in a neighbourhood with lots of young families. We usually get ~250 children at our door. We buy a few large boxes of mini chocolates from Costco. At the beginning of the night, we limit kids to 2 each (and they’re always good about it). At the end of the evening if we have lots left, we turn off the lights and leave the bowl outside, and the teens can have at it. Usually we run out around 9pm though.
