What time does your DC’s school finish?

Both primary and secondary school finished at 3.45pm for me, in the late 90s/mid 00s.

I live in a different place to where I grew up and I see both primary and secondary children walking or being collected from about 2.50pm, which seems really early. Yesterday I was wfh but had an appointment to attend at 3.30pm, a short bus ride away - I left 30 mins beforehand but was almost late, as it took me that long to travel less than 2 miles because of the traffic and the amount of schoolchildren at each bus stop.

My own DC will be at school in the next few years and I’m vaguely sketching out how I’ll manage after-school care.

Just curious as to what the “general” school hours are, as I had assumed that 9am-3.45pm was standard.

Infants 8.50 - 3.25
Juniors 8.45 - 3.30

8.45 - 2.38. It's a nightmare. There is also a severe lack of before & after school care.

Primary 3.15 and secondary 3.30. My secondary finished at 3.15 i think, can't remember primary.

DS is in Reception and finishes at 3:10, DD is Y4 and finishes at 3:15. The gates are open from 8:30 until 8:55 which is an absolute godsend.

Infant school 8.40am - 3pm
Junior school 8.45 - 3.30pm
Not at secondary school yet but depending which one they get in to it’s likely to be 8.25am - 2.55pm, or the Grammar school is 8.25am - 3.15pm

Primaries finishing earlier isn't particularly great, as many working parents would struggle to pick up. For Secondaries it's much better though. Lots of kids will have a longer journey home or have to get buses, plus the older they get the more homework they have, meaning they end up with barely any free time in the evening if they're not home until late.

My school ( primary) 8.45-3.15 with an hour for lunch and 15 min morning play.
DD (secondary) 8.30-2.50 with two 30 min breaks.

Register closes at 9 but school open from 8.40. Finish at 3.15. Primary - most others are 9 - 3.

My youngest goes from 8.45 to 1.45. Im in NI, it's ridiculous. My eldest (still primary) out at 2.45. So double school run.

West mids

Primary 08:50 to 15:30
Secondary 08:30 to 15:05

Our primary (1 of 5 where we are) is 845 - 310 not sure on the others
The secondary is also 845 until 310pm and have to be at 1st lesson for 845am

9am - 3pm. Seems very short but he's only Yr4. When he was younger (at a prep school) he did 8am - 6pm.

My children can start any time between 8.40-8.55. The youngest finishes at 3pm and the oldest 3.15. They are 6 and 11.
