Dh, DD and I are off to London for a few days this week and are looking for somewhere to eat near (within 10/15 mins walk if possible) the Natural History Museum if anyone has any suggestions please.

Franco manca on old Brompton road - good value and good pizza - you can book but it's mostly walk ins

Exactly what I was going to say. They were lovely with me and my autistic boy but I think I went to the one a bit further away near the premiere in towards earl's court

There's a cafe with stuffed Pandas in the Natural History museum. ( Also one in the Science Museum next door or a posher, beautiful cafe in the Victoria and Albert museum across the road!)

ChimChimeny · 24/10/2022 18:23

Ah, we've planned Franco Manca in Covent Garden for dinner on Wednesday but we can change it to this one on Thursday instead or eat in the cafe.

Thanks all 😊

We used to alternate eating in the N H musem itself and science museum when I took the twins to something near there (and when they were busy I would be in the restaurant in the V&A. In other words all 3 museums have very good places to eat with children in the museums themselves.

HedyPrism · 24/10/2022 18:24

Papa Roma. Family Italian restaurant.

ChimChimeny · 24/10/2022 18:24

Although following that can anyone recommend a child friendly place in Covent Garden please 😁

I have to say food in the science museum was utterly shit and extortionate! I expected it to be both not great and expensive but it exceeded itself on both accounts!

LBOCS2 · 24/10/2022 18:43

There's a GBK around the corner from the NHM - not particularly exciting but very child friendly!

I've taken DC to Cote in Covent Garden a few times, as DD2 is obsessed with their Croque monsieur. There are lots of good restaurants though, and if they like a particular cuisine we can almost certainly recommend something suitable? DD1 likes Flat Iron as she's very into steak :)

Covent Garden -
Prima Sapori d'Italia - we are there last week - pizza was good and so was a simple pasta - very nice waiters

Busy77 · 24/10/2022 18:47

On Tavistock street - 20m from Covent Garden

NoDairyNoProblem · 24/10/2022 20:15

Zita Teresa is about a 10/15min walk and located just behind harrods- family friendly Italian, reasonably priced and a must for us on every London trip. Google were saying it was closed but it’s not, we ate here last week during half term.

SBAM · 24/10/2022 20:20

We went to the science museum in the summer, Kensington Creperie was close, friendly, pretty quick service. There’s a Lebanese/Moroccan place opposite it that looked popular too.

PuttingDownRoots · 24/10/2022 20:26

As a side note... have you booked your NHM tickets? We just tried for Wednesday and couldn't get tickets. No problem at Science museum though.

Changechangychange · 24/10/2022 21:52

DS is obsessed with the NHM kids’ lunchboxes. The contents are pretty boring and he would not be remotely interested if I got the same sandwich, crisps, raisins and juice out of my handbag, but out of a NHM cardboard box they are apparently the best food ever.

Or there is a Carluccios, a Thai Square, a Pain Quotidien, and Comptoir Libonais, and a Pret on the way back to South Ken station. You’ll find something to eat in one of those.

Shitfather · 24/10/2022 22:03

Comptoir Libanais is lovely for kids.
Tombo (Japanese) - love this place and not extortionate.
If you download the Pizza Express app, it’s currently BOGOF on pizzas. There’s one near Gloucester Rd.
Imperial College (entrance next to the Science Museum) has some lovely food at reasonable prices. I always see families eating there in the holidays.

Goostacean · 24/10/2022 22:04

We always go to the Carluccios by the station, and find it family friendly. And tasty!

Sauvignonblanket · 24/10/2022 22:08

We go to the Carluccio's by the tube station too!

fruitbrewhaha · 24/10/2022 22:19

Down exhibition road at there’s a load of eateries including a comptoire Lebanese and pan quotidian, a tapas place, burger bar and a pizza place that are all nice and around a pedestrian strip

MindfulBear · 24/10/2022 22:46

We took a very active 5yo to a street restaurant near the tube by the NHM.
We also enjoyed eating in the science museum on another occasion.

I always take loads of snacks too!!

In Covent Garden area I have taken my kids to the pizza express opposite
Charing Cross station. Always very friendly and tolerant of kids.
