Two nurses shot and killed on a maternity ward in Texas. Just doing their job. RIP ladies.
The murderer was a man beating up his partner who was in labour. 1st nurse went to help his labouring partner. 2nd nurse heard the shot and went to help.

Oh my god @NigellaAwesome that's awful

knittingaddict · 24/10/2022 18:10

Where have these two weird posters come from? Feels very jarring.

Unseelie · 24/10/2022 18:16

Not a good advert for any psycho who wants one being able to buy guns on the high st :(

What a horrible story. Those poor women.

TheHouseonHauntedHill · 24/10/2022 18:37

Omg

We humans are animals in the jungle still.

USA should have metal detector before entering hospitals..

Savage's.

Several years ago two nurses on a ward at our hospital were attacked by a guy wielding an oxygen cylinder. He chased them into the patient toilets and tried to break the door down. Personally I have witnessed loads of violence from patients. I had my glasses broken once by a patient and a colleague just a few weeks ago was hit in the face. Obviously nothing like this case but it demonstrates how vulnerable nurses can be.

Cuck00soup · 24/10/2022 18:48

As a Nurse my heart goes out to these brave women and to their families who have lost them in such awful circumstances. May they rest in peace.

I have no words for anyone who supports gun violence.

Brefugee · 24/10/2022 18:48

NEVER GIVE UP UR RIGHTS. Disarming is what allows CCP style governments to hurt ppl. 2nd amendment saves lives

oh dear. TBH since Sandy Hook i try not to care if people in the USA are shooting each other willy nilly, they obviously don't care, so why should we?

RIP those midwives though, they're having a tough time in Texas without idiots shooting them

BlodynGwyn · 24/10/2022 15:46

Why the hell should I give up my guns because of this evil man?

The reason I have guns is protection from people such as this man. Will people with evil intent surrender their guns?!

This is such a stupid take and I remember a colleague from Houston I was training saying the same thing.
I said "but what if you suddenly have a bad mental health episode and go around shooting people" and it really seemed like the penny dropped for him.
And then obviously the counties which don't allow Joe public to have firearms, aren't getting all shot up all the time 🤷🤦

Has anyone got a link to this? I can't see it on any of the main news sites.

@BlodynGwyn if you think a thread about the tragic death of two women who were trying to defend another labouring women at the hands of a man with a gun is the right place to defend your “right” to have a gun, surely the online equivalent of waving a gun around, you are definitely part of the problem.

America the world is judging you hard for this.

RIP those poor women.

Was this a dialysis patient on the 4th floor ? If so I was on the early after this ?

Fink · 24/10/2022 19:23

Thanks both

Donepaying · 24/10/2022 19:24

@FixundFoxi did we work in the same hospital ? 🤔

Waitingfordecember · 24/10/2022 19:30

God that’s awful. I’ll never understand the pro gun culture in the US.

How many innocent people have to die before they care more about the casualties than their ‘right’ to own a piece of equipment designed to kill?

ButIamBatman · 24/10/2022 19:49

Americans and their guns. This will keep happening

Its not just American hospitals violence happens on, its hospital wards all over the world. So this is not something new.

Ginger1982 · 24/10/2022 21:37

Typical Texas. Horrendous state.

FrankTheThunderbird · 24/10/2022 21:45

When will America wake the fuck up :(

Violence in hospitals may not just happen in America, but the potential harm is so much more when guns are available.

NamelessNancy · 24/10/2022 21:57

Also as well as gun control there needs to be far more talk about male violence against women without constantly needing to apologise and NAMALT about it.

Harm happens with all violence. No matter what form it is.

God that's shocking. Who takes a gun to a birth!?!

It's Texas, some people carry a gun all the time.
