If you go to a gig keep your phone in your pocket/bag. It’s happening right in front of you why view it through a tiny screen?

Definitely second that, I like to take one photo of us together then phone away and absorb the moment. It's not like I go back watching videos of gigs, fireworks etc but I continue to smile when I relive the memories.

I think ‘keep your phone in your pocket or bag’ is good general advice for living in the moment.

not just for an hour or so, but until it’s no longer second nature to reach for your phone every time you sit down.

It’s something I try to remind myself regularly because it’s easier said than done!

Stop taking pictures. Put your phone away. Appreciate stuff out loud - even if there’s nobody with you, simply saying ‘Isn’t that pretty” or “That smells nice” really helps. Use as many senses as possible - take time to smell the air, taste your meal or feel the pine cones! Wear clothes that make you feel good and surround yourself by people who share your sense of humour.

I really need to put the phone down! But sometimes the present moment is too stressful and I need to escape into the internet 😄

I have taught my kids this grounding technique to stay in the moment - go through your senses and name something you can see/hear/taste/smell/feel right now.

Stop taking photos. Get off social media. Turn off notifications.

Set aside time to do exactly what you want. We play board games as a family, they are brilliant, we spend hours all together totally absorbed.

Also get outside, in all weathers.
