Anyone else got a small child?

Just wondering at what point, if any you would start to worry about the size of a child?

Child in question will be 3 in a matter of weeks and has just tried on their Halloween costume which is age 12-18 months with some growing room left over.

This is typical of most of the clothes, we own nothing bigger in size than a few 18-24 month Jumpers which again are baggy.

I appreciate someone has to be the smallest but a friend has commented regarding the costume size asking if I'm not worried they are still in baby clothes despite being nearly a pre schooler.

Should I be worried?

I have a small one, age 10 and her clothes range from age 5-8. I know why she is little though so not really concerned. Also, I do think that yes she is small, but also a lot of kids clothes seem to be on the large side, especially around the waist.

Dc3 is dinky, she is 5 and in 3-4 clothes and they have plenty of room. She was tiny at birth 0.2 centile and 4lbs 10oz at 39+4. Dc4 weighs more and he is 3.5. Her 3 siblings are all very tall, way above their peers, so I think she is just little. Dc2 was small until 5.5 but at nearly 7 is very tall, very long legs. If any concerns Op see the GP or health visitor OP.

lack of height growth the only symptom that prompted the concerns for being a coeliac?

Growth rate falling off can be the only symptom yes

Eating well but not growing could be coeliac as nutrients do not get absorbed

But key thing is what is her growth rate ?
Is she gaining height at all ? 6 cm per year i think it is

I am petite. DD is small. We are both fit and healthy. I always had excellent grades and did really well in some sports (not group ones, but individual ones such as gymnastics, running, horse riding, skiing)

It’s often the size of the clothes rather than the size of the children. Clothes are definitely getting bigger, and stretchier. I have slim children OP of different ages and the clothes often get muddled, and it not been unusual for them to come downstairs wearing for example 12-18 months bottoms and a 9-10years top and nobody noticing until we check the labels, and the child in question being 6 or 7.

DD is 20 months and still in 9-12 months. We're both small though so what can you do?

Yep, I have a small one - she hit the 135cm car seat mark just shy of her 12th birthday!
She’s had a bit of growth spurt since, she’s 13 and just under 5ft now, so she will be a small-but-not-too-small adult, I believe.

I saw the GP twice about her height, mostly because people made such a fuss about how small she was Blush no concerns in our case, she was following the centile lines (2nd for height, 9th for weight) just fine so I stopped worrying.
