How can I raise my self esteem to feel like there's a place in society for me?

I'm really low today. I just think 'what's the point?'. I cannot see that there's a happy place for me in this life. I've spent my life savings on therapy and not yet reached the point of being self-sustaining. I've no family, no partner & no job. I feel like my life would be pointless even if I could find someone who would employ me. I need to change my mindset. How do I do it?

What do you do to add value to the lives of others? Can you start with that? Maybe you already do loads in which case good for you and that is sincerely meant. If you feel you are not doing much, the easiest volunteering I can suggest is at Parkrun. One hour once a week. Stand in a luminous vest and clap. Job done.
Your op seems too focussed on you. That way madness lies! Most people derive self worth from the things they give back either to family or friends or volunteering or random acts of kindness. Have you tried this? Does it not work at all for you?

I'm too frightened to leave the house to do stuff like that.

Why are you frightened?

pumpmt · 21/10/2022 18:05

I have deep trauma from my early life.

Volunteer online. Find a purpose.

Sorry to hear you are feeling rubbish Op.

Can you set yourself small goals to fulfill and slowly build it up?

It sounds like a visit to your GP is needed at this stage, having had what sounds like months of therapy but your mood is still so low. Would you be willing to go onto a course of anti-depressants, just to take the edge off, to see if that gives you some breathing space to think a bit more openly and positively.

For something so long- term, I doubt whether anything we can say on here will resolve such deep-rooted challenges. You need some RW expert advice and support I think.
