It's worth bearing in mind that celebs have off days like the rest of us, however when there are multiple anecdotes about the same people being awful, there might be something in it.
My friend and I have hugely differing stories about meeting Marti Pellow (several years apart in different countries). She found him an arrogant arse, while he couldn't have been nicer for the few weeks he was a customer at my old job. I will never be convinced that he is anything other than an absolute sweetheart.

I grew up in the town Marti Pellow lived and would see him frequently, he was always lovely.

@Zone2NorthLondon Maxine Peake.. Genuinely lovely lady! 😊 Lived up the road from her, always seen her in the local co-op and had dealings through work. Just seriously ‘normal’ and down to earth.

Phew! I really like her as an actor, seen her lots and her DID was so enjoyable

@Naughtynormansmum my uncle did some work on Peter Kays house.. really great guy, only good things to say.

Other locals said he’s nice but boring.. but that’s because they’re borderline alcoholics and he’s not a drinker 😆

Readytoplay · 20/10/2022 16:33

I don't like threads like this where people get slated and can't defend themselves. It's so childish reading all of this shit. In fact I am childish for responding and defending the indefensible

I absolutely agree with this. Just because their celebrities doesn’t make them ‘perfect’ i’m sure there are people that we have all met that think ourselves are rude arrogant (whatever you wanna call it). There was a thread on here the other day that was accusing a certain actor of extremely serious and grotesque crimes, with the evidence of ‘a freind once told me’ or ‘he looks like the type’ you wouldn’t publicly speculate these types of things to people you personally know, so don’t do it to someone you don’t know personally. can celebrities humans be arseholes? yes. Are humans perfect? no!

pyjamafashionista not until he’s dead.

That's exactly what my ex who worked in tv said.

What is the reason for waiting until someone's dead before revealing the truth about them? I can't think of a reason apart from not wanting to be sued and I assume that there must be evidence and a slander/libel lawsuit would therefore fail.

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 20/10/2022 16:35

Why do people expect Miriam Margolyes to be lovely when surely what she’s famous for is her refusal to mince her words or put up with things like a sweet old lady? Like the swearing or the time she poured her water bottle over a young man who wouldn’t give her his seat at a railway station.

A family member was cast as one of the young children on coronation street in the 00's, met quite a lot of the cast from back then, I was a teenager at the time. They were all incredibly nice apart from the bloke who played Martin Platt, he was the biggest turd I've ever met.
The woman who plays Rita, didn't meet her personally but apparently she could be very standoffish and quite rude.
The late Anne Kirkbride (Deidre Barlow) was absolutely lovely.

I was picked to go on stage at a small pantomime in the early 90's when I was about 3 and sang "there's a worm at the bottom of the garden" with 2 of the cast members, one of whom was a very young Suranne Jones, before she was famous. I don't remember it but she was very nice by all accounts 😂

Gromit, I won't hear a word against him.

Wallace, on the other hand, wouldn't be surprised to hear he can be a git in real life.

I Hear that Shaun is lovely, but Bitzer on the other hand can be a right diva. Always demanding more screen time and making little Timmy cry at one point in which his mother gave him a good talking too!
As for the Farmer, he’s not horrible (he a decent guy) but he’s very difficult to work with as he always forgets his lines and when he does eventually remember them, his diction is so terrible you can’t make out what’s he is saying.

😜

Sebastian Vettel has been mentioned a few times upthread. I’ve met him a couple of times and he was absolutely lovely. Very friendly and very funny. Didn’t meet him for long but he was an absolute delight. The first time he was with Mark Webber who was exactly as I had expected and was friendly and down to earth. Also very funny.

Daniel Ricciardo has to be lovely - that’s a given.
Dev Patel. Anyone who says anything bad has to be a big fat fibber.

Littledidsheknow · 20/10/2022 17:24

What rubbish about Tom Hanks / Isaac Kappy.
It was all QAnon right wing conspiracy theorists claiming some huge paedophile network that included Tom Hanks. Isaac Kappy was involved with them.
If there was a shred of evidence that Hanks had done what was claimed, or had been involved in Kappy's not so accidental suicide then the investigation into TH would have been global front page news. Surprise surprise, there were no such headlines.
