The singer Mika, I absolutely adore him and he genuinely seems like the loveliest guy in the world. My heart couldn't take it if someone told me otherwise 😢

'Sick and tired of people slagging David Jason off. His mum in law is good friends with my partner's mum and she knows David and his wife well. He is lovely. He is a quiet and thoughtful man. Not fair to say these things when you do not know a person
People on here are not claiming to know the person the in question. I've met him twice and he was rude. His MIL might be lovely.
Also a friend spent some time with him in a professional capacity and he was rude and off hand.'

So you met him twice then, My partner's mum has known him for years, socialised with him even. Fancy that!
I don't like threads like this where people get slated and can't defend themselves. It's so childish reading all of this shit. In fact I am childish for responding and defending the indefensible

@JenniferBarkley Did you miss when Damon Hill said "What a lot of people don't know about Michael is that underneath that gruff exterior beats a heart of stone!"
Also remember him squaring up to David Coulthard in the pit lane after some dangerous manoeuvres.
I think most racing drivers are arrogant as it comes with the territory. Sorry!

Paul Rudd

Henry Cavill
Chris Evans (although I think I read on another thread that he has been an idiot in the past?)
Bob Mortimer
Dawn French
Julie Andrews
Meryl Streep
Julie Walters

Susan Calman

I seem to remember Popbitch having quite a bit to say on her popularity - or lack thereof - among her fellow Strictly contestants.

Oh no, really? What did they say?? ☹️

I can imagine Miriam Morgolyrs being quite an unpleasant bully actually.

I don't think I'll take Damon Hill's word on Michael Schumacher Grin

Schumacher donated $10m to the boxing day tsunami funds, among other charitable work. His family life is that of a good person, loyal to his wife who he met at a young age, and they raised lovely children. Never slagged the team off in public, no matter what went wrong (some of today's grid would do well to learn that lesson).

Yes, racing drivers are arrogant and ruthless on track, but you won't convince me that Schumacher wasn't lovely away from it.

Oh, and Coulthard accepted he was in the wrong for that manoeuvre. I was actually there that day, one of the best (if soggiest) days of my life.

I would hate it if George Clooney was nasty. Would be more heartbreaking than my divorce. To be honest, wasn't all that heartbreaking, thought about George when saying my vows.

Omg yes, I agree with the pp who said Dolly!

DD has met Dolly. Bumped into her at the airport, happy to chat to DD and her friends - generally as lovely as she always seems on screen!

Mooserp · 20/10/2022 13:08

I doubt many (if any) of the people mentioned are actually 'vile' but they're probably not as nice as we'd like to believe. Except for Bob.

Maybe I met him on a bad day, but David Jason was bloody awful to me. Made me cry and that rarely happens.

Oh no can I ask what happened?

ihavespoken · 20/10/2022 13:13

Stacey Solomon and Joe Swash..I love them

GonnaGetGoingReturns · 20/10/2022 13:14

DB works in film and TV and has said following are lovely:

  • Damian Lewis
  • Guy Pearce
  • Bradley Walsh

Must be others but have forgot names

He said Dominic West wasn't that nice.

Other friends worked in TV and said all cast of Footballers Wives were lovely.

DM met a few actors - said Roger Moore was lovely. She also met Twiggy and didn't like her - something about a dress she'd designed and she just took it.

Aunt was a model in 70s, met various celebs - one of her best friends (got photo evidence) was Robert Palmer, she also did a shoot with Queen and said they were all lovely too.

Chamomileteaplease · 20/10/2022 13:14

I hope the people casting individuals as "horrible" are not basing it on one short meeting - that seems terribly unfair as we all have off days.

Those who have worked with them over a period of time have a much more insightful opinion I would say.

Regarding David Tennant I am assuming he was much younger then and I am sure he has grown up and become much kinder 😱.

BrightYellowDaffodil · 20/10/2022 13:15

@SirChenjins

Scanning back through the emails, that Sandi Toksvig had an injunction against her and that her fellow Strictly contestants didn't seem to be at all sad that she'd left:

"The tabloids all picked up on the fact that Calman unfollowed the official Strictly account on Twitter right after she was canned. Susan put out the excuse that she was so sad to leave Strictly that she needed to be alone for a few days. The real reason? All the dancers – celeb and pro – share a WhatsApp group, and when somebody left there was always lots of traffic (the usual "Good luck babes", "You wuz robbed babes" etc). Calman was so disliked that her axing didn't cause a ripple."

What on earth were they speculating about, @WhataboutThewhataboutery ?

Then again, perhaps I don't want to know! 🙉

They were speculating whether he was gay or not !! (Sadly they were homophobic) I was so young I just picked up on their tone and assumed murderer 🤦‍♀️

Colouringaddict · 20/10/2022 13:18

Met Bob Mortimer several times, I lived very close to one of his famous friends. He was always lovely, I met him initially when I was very heavily pregnant with ds. Met him next after he had been born and he appeared to be genuinely interested in the baby. Rarely saw him alone, he was usually with Vic Reeves or Jim Moir depending on who you are talking to. He too was always lovely, chatty and friendly

My DH has an occupation that sees him working at very great height, Robert Carlyle was filming close to one of his jobs. He bought DH a coffee and stood chatting to him for ages, great sense of humour and down to earth he said.
