Atrial Fibrillation - any experiences

Hi all,

Anyone have experience of dealing with Atrial Fibrillation? I spent the night in hospital on Tuesday with this (first time) and wondered how other people have coped?

I'm a bit anxious about it happening again (was raised for nearly 5 hours) and am now awaiting further tests and whatnot.

Overweight (which I will tackle) but other than that generally fit and healthy. Minimal caffeine, don't smoke or drink much. This has happened after a horrific bout of cold/flu like illness (not covid unless tests were wrong).

Thanks 😊

@Mollylolly I've had times of feeling anxious about it, but I've now reached a point where I've just decided to live my life. There are things I can control (losing weight, doing more exercise etc) and things I can't, and I have to talk myself out of worrying about the latter. I realise that's not as easy as it sounds written down like that, and I hope it becomes more manageable for you.

Thank you . Hopefully it never returns and we both have a happy healthy life x

I eventually had an ablation 18 months ago and touch wood, no AF since. I still get ectopic beats every day and it feels a bit fluttery at night but am menopausal too so attribute some of it to that. The consultant wasn't worried. Still on bisoprolol, feel ok generally.
I did choose to have the COVID booster (if you read my earlier post in 2022) and within 48 hours was back in A&E with my heart racing so no more of those for me.

@cptartapp I'm on 1 25mg of bisoprolol, too. I still get ectopics and flutters, but mostly when my stomach is bad, which is most days as I have a hiatus hernia. I'm also peri. And I wouldn't get another covid vaccine either. I developed afib when I had covid but I also had just had vaccine 4 weeks before. My cardiologist says it was probably a combination of both. Fingers crossed the AF never comes back x
