Restaurant recommendations in Cardiff

Going to Cardiff on Friday evening with DD (17), staying over in the city centre. Looking for recommendations for a decent restaurant, pretty much eat anything and not too fussed about budget. I just don’t want to end up in a chain restaurant, and some of the more upmarket stuff looks fully booked.

any suggestions?

Ty Maderia on St Marys street is nice. The Clink in the prison is also an experience!

I liked Mowgli - there are a few of them in the country but not a chain as such!
And whilst the botanist is definitely a chain, I like the Cardiff one. The rooftop bit is really nice.

and I liked Viva Brazil near the central station but it changed a bit after Covid and I haven't been for a while. Chapel 1877 is supposed to be good to but I haven't tried it

If you can make it out to Cathays, please please go to Brother Thai - amazing

It HAS to be Cafe Citta! It's right in the centre, just off the Hayes.

It's not a cafe it's a lovely Italian restaurant, run by a lovely Italian family, it's really tiny so you need to book. It's the best!

Bacareto is excellent, and very central. Does Venetian 'tapas' and lots of versions of aperetivo 'spritz' drinks, if aperol is your thing.

Cafe Citta or Potted Pig or Pasture.

I was going to say cafe città too but it really is small so book in advance

The coconut tree on Mill Lane I supposed to be very good for Sri Lankan food. I’ve not been myself though

Pasture is great but you may struggle to get a table, I like Asdor 44 as well.

I wasn't a fan of the Potted Pig when I went
