My life is really busy but I try to run. I'm also starting to research my family tree.

NancyJoan · 17/10/2022 06:47

No, I’ve just started Pilates, but I’m not sure if class that as a hobby.

CrispsnDips · 17/10/2022 06:48

Cycling, walking and knitting 😄

Lottsbiffandsmudge · 17/10/2022 06:50

Knitting and crochet. I find them v relaxing almost like meditation. It's a mindful hobby.
Currently making Xmas gifts!

iknowwhatyoudid · 17/10/2022 07:03

I play football twice a week. Completed my first coaching badge end of 2021 and just about to embark on my referee course!

I also do HIIT work outs 3-4 times a week, if I get a chance.

GnomeDePlume · 17/10/2022 07:18

I work full time and have too many hobbies and don't have enough spare time for them all:

  • Allotment gardening
  • Brewing
  • Preserving
  • Sewing
  • Swimming

I need to retire!

AceofPentacles · 17/10/2022 07:18

I'm learning astrology on an online course
My other hobby is a side business now

Cyanleaf · 17/10/2022 07:20

Yes I show dogs, started in my childhood, then it carried on throughout various relationships, my marriage and now my own DC take part. ☺️

KoalaPineapple · 17/10/2022 07:24

I pick up a new crafty thing every few months spend loads on new supplies, see another craft and the cycle continues 😂 think I’ve done Lino art, acrylic painting, clay modelling, sewing, cross stitch, watercolour, origami, jewellery making etc. I have a craft room where I have loads of BITS haha!

NegroniLover · 17/10/2022 07:36

Reading
Travelling

Theatre
I work full time & Have just applied to do a masters in an area I'm interested in which will also involve travel - win win!

AltheaVestr1t · 17/10/2022 07:39

Reading is my hobby - that's what I spend my leisure time doing anyway. That's not very exciting though, is it?

thelobsterquadrille · 17/10/2022 07:41

Horse-riding ☺️

mavismorpoth · 17/10/2022 07:44

Writing plays with all my ideas I've had over the years.
Finally wrote a screenplay and completed it.
I like miniatures but no get up and go to restore the dolls' house I have.
I'm building up a work portfolio for copy writing and it's kind of a hobby until it starts to make me money.
I work part-time, self-employed.

SBAM · 17/10/2022 07:48

Sewing, mostly garment sewing but I do make quilted blankets for new babies of family and friends. I find it’s a great hobby as the planning, buying materials, prepping projects all require different levels of energy. Plus I’m lucky to have a sewing space so I can leave things set up and do 20 minutes as and when I get a chance.

I used to bake frequently, but that’s become more challenging with small children around and fewer opportunities. I do try to make the kids birthday cakes around whatever they’re into (most recently a rainbow cake and a digger cake).

CanIusethisnameplease · 17/10/2022 07:48

I like reading, but I don’t do it enough!

read the first five chapters of wuthering heights last night.

we also have an allotment, my husband is really into it , and it’s great for his fitness/ practice diy skills

I probably spend about 3 hours a week there . I’m actually hoping to make a little summer house there (to read my book hahaha)

when the weather is beautiful though, I have a sun lounger there , and will often have a little nap in the sun while pretending I am weeding hahaha

other then that I spend a lot of time with my bestie dog walking, at least once a week , but it can be daily if we are both free .

I also have a guilty pleasure of a game on my phone , a farm game . I spend too much time on it , and I wouldn’t like anyone to find out tbh

I suppose it depends what you had in mind. Something physical, crafty, social etc?

I started running which is good as you can just throw on your gear and run. It's not very social though. I used to do a weekly boxercise class but the facilitator had to stop it as not enough people were coming regularly. Looking for another convenient weekly class.

At home i like card making, fell into that by accident as my Auntie had hoarded supplies and I took some to show her what could be done and quite liked it. My DH bought me a couple of diamond painting sets, there's not much skill involved but they are quick and easy to get out/pack away. If my DC are watching a film I'll sit and do a bit of those.

I work FT and have two young DC so I'm a bit limited currently.

My DH goes to a Warhammer club once per week. That's something he's wanted to do for a long while.

savehannah · 17/10/2022 08:05

Singing in a choir, doing puzzles, cycling, baking, reading. Don't get as much time as I'd like for the last four though as theres no scheduled time for them also I waste hours on FB and Mumsnet!!

dizzydizzydizzy · 17/10/2022 08:06

I usually like triathlon but too unwell at the moment to do anything other than a short splash in the pool in my better days.

I also enjoy iPhone photography and Lego. Spend a lot of time listening to Abba and reading as well. Like watching Strictly on the telly.

Strugglingtodomybest · 17/10/2022 08:06

I have a few hobbies, I'd go mad without them. I work from home so it's very important to me to get out of the house for a bit each day.

faffadoodledo · 17/10/2022 08:08

Tennis once a week (I'd like it to be more often)
Pilates once a week (really should have started years ago)
Dog walk every day - love it. Not a chore at all
Learning to knit - v v early days!!
Sporadic French lessons

DoubleNit · 17/10/2022 08:09

I've got quite a physical job so I prefer slower hobbies. Crochet , jigsaws and at this time of year planning the garden.

BeanCounterBabe · 17/10/2022 08:11

I work 30 hours a week with 12 and 14 year olds. I’m in a choir that was quite competitive to get into and is a real commitment but it keeps me sane. I love music so try and get to some gigs as well. I also swim in the sea averaging 1-2 a week depending on weather and season. Love that because it is free.

GettingOrganisedNow · 17/10/2022 15:35

I knit and crochet. Used to sew but it's awkward with kids around because I don't have a separate room where I can leave things out in between 'sessions'.

I also love cycling and used to do quite a bit of mountain climbing, but just don't have time these days.

I'd probably be into gardening if I had the time for that too; maybe when I retire.

And I love building Lego and reading.

Would love to learn some more languages when the kids don't need so much attention as well. And I'll probably do some other night classes.

DH has no real hobbies, and I don't really understand it (he has as much free time as I do)! If I see an activity happening, I have to try it!

PinkHeadphones · 17/10/2022 15:43

Not really, I don't think I ever have.
I love reading and I read a lot, but for some reason I don't think of reading as a hobby. I like the theatre but if I go once or twice a year it can't really be called a hobby.
I like swimming but only do it in the summer and I go to the gym when i can but that is more to keep fit than as a hobby.
I like going for walks but I wouldn't say I do it often enough or creatively enough for it to be a hobby.
I'm learning a language on Duolingo but again I don't really count that as a hobby.
I suppose I think of hobbies as being arts and crafts things, or things you do regularly like amdram or choir, or sports like horse riding or golf or cycling that you do because you like them not because you have to do exercise.

MostTacticalNameChange · 17/10/2022 15:47

Pokemon Go. People love to take the piss but it encourages walking and running (and tracks your mileage) and you can complete little challenges everyday and bigger ones regularly which are just little wins to stave off the inescapable fear and tedium of gazing into the looming abyss beyond this mortal plane.

Gardening is great too and can be done on any scale and budget.
