Cycling, dog walking, reading and sewing, assorted other crafts and podcasts.

I genuinely don’t understand people without hobbies. What do you do?

Look after the children, attempt to put them to bed, cleaning, look after elderly parents.

Pilates, yoga, reading, sewing & other crafty stuff (my daughter loves it so we do it together)

I suppose it depends on what stage of life you are at, but then, I’ve never prioritised a tidy house over a satisfying life of hobbies. 😂

my mum is in her 80s but I’m lucky enough not to have looking after responsibilities yet, so I have more time on my hands than when my kids were young.

Honestly I'm not sure I do - and it does play on my mind how that reflects on me.

I do an awful lot of reading if that counts and there are things I would say I enjoy doing that I also wouldn't classify as a 'hobby'. Whilst I do like them, I don't necessary do them regularly or wouldn't say I'm heavily involved/skilled/interested in learning more or investing money into it - eg baking, cooking.

I do think in an alternative version of my life where I weren't hampered by a disability/illness I probably would still be doing a lot of things I used to do that that now affects but have never seemed to be able to find things to replace those with that I feel the same enthusiasm for - eg team sports, exercise (no longer possible) or art and craft type things I used to partake in such as calligraphy or linocutting (my hands are a problem). I don't overly like watching TV so other than reading and browsing the web I'm at a bit of a loss most of the time!

Exercise mostly if that counts? Spin classes mainly (3-5 a week) plus yoga, barre, weights, whatever I can fit in
Do a fair amount of exercise challenges too

Reading is definitely a hobby! Do you know how many people do NOT read. I have so many friends who never read for pleasure. You say your hands are a problem, but I'm assuming typing is ok. Maybe look into creative writing? There are also loads of online courses -- just learning something for the sake of it might be an idea.

autienotnaughty · 17/10/2022 21:38

I read loads. I have a bad back so do Pilates and yoga weekly. I do jigsaws and crosswords.

Unfortunately I’m very much in the sandwhich generation of very young children and unwell parents. Youngest has just started nursery so I try and swim most days.

missmamiecuddleduck · 17/10/2022 21:42

Learning things on Coursera
Spanish lessons
Dance
Houseplants
Soapmaking

frazzled101 · 17/10/2022 22:10

For many many years I had none, now I have too many!

I knit/crochet, dressmaking (going to classes), daily yoga/Pilates although that's to try and fix my back, swimming (have been doing lessons) walking and reading.

I've 2 small children and about to return to work after maternity leave so my hobby time will be even less than now.

I’d love to have a go at soap making because it would be palm oil free.

I read library books on my kobo, I read so much now.
I like doing free level 2 courses on vision 2 learn.
I do minor diy around the home/decorating.
I follow the formula one racing.
I like visiting national trust type places.

I haven’t tried it yet but national theatre do a streaming service so I want to try it, I love theatre but I could never afford to go.
