Filling a pad every hour what shall I do tonight

Corncrunch · 16/10/2022 22:10

Have endometriosis normally heavy but all day it’s been constant filling a pad every hour leaked through my pyjamas and stained the bed. The huge clots are massive I have a bed pad but it moves a lot and worried about the rest of my sheets what can I do. I did think a Tena nappy but the shops are shut.

That's really heavy bleeding. Can you contact out of hours to get medication to help?

Solasum · 16/10/2022 22:13

Bin bag under the sheet to protect the mattress, and sleep on a pile of towels?

Happenchance · 16/10/2022 22:13

Do you have waterproof trousers? I've had to resort to them before.

Foolsandtheirmoney · 16/10/2022 22:15

Eh should you not be getting medical help not sleeping on bin bags? I was under the impression it was dangerous to lose that much blood for a prolonged period of time?

femaleflimflam · 16/10/2022 22:16

I'd be going to a and e with that much blood loss. Is there someone who can take you?

Neverplayleapfrogwithaunicorn · 16/10/2022 22:17

I get this too. I tend to use a really thick pad and super tampax at the same time

longtompot · 16/10/2022 22:17

I really do feel for you. I don't have endo but do have very heavy periods like you mentioned due to fibroids and polyps and it is hell. I tend to take ibuprofen as it seems to slow my flow down eventually, and when it's at its heaviest just sit on the loo until the worst passes. I know I'll be up every hour and not sleep in between so this seems deal with the worst of it. How many days is yours this bad?

femaleflimflam · 16/10/2022 22:17

Huge clots is particularly worrying. Make a note of how big they are for the docs.

ScottishLavender · 16/10/2022 22:19

Phone 111 for guidance.

pinkycatmum · 16/10/2022 22:20

Please get medical advice OP. Best wishes Flowers

I'm not much help to you now (yes to a pile of towels + bin bag) but I had this last month and couldn't leave the house on my worst day, it was ridiculous. Huge clots. Got tranexamic acid from the doc after seeing someone recommend it on here.

OMG what a difference! A normal manageable period!

Pinkbonbon · 16/10/2022 22:22

I'd put a plastic bag under me I think.
Keep a towel near the bed just incase.

Vaccine001 · 16/10/2022 22:23

A&E and take photo of the clots. I utterly sympathise. I'm anaemic again because of heavy bleeding and having an infusion of iron this week.

Corncrunch · 16/10/2022 22:26

I take transanamic acid and have been to a and e before but there’s nothing they can do. They all says it’s normal due to my endometriosis.

Normal my arse, they wouldn't say that to a man if men had to put up with this. You have my sympathies.

OnTheBoardwalk · 16/10/2022 22:35

Please take photos of the clots and call 111

i wasn’t taken seriously by many doctors and told it was 'normal' until I pulled up the photos I’d taken

i was really annoyed it had taken years for my condition to be taken seriously

closingloop · 16/10/2022 22:44

Oh god, I remember the 'liver lumps' - every month I couldn't leave the house for a day or two other to drive the 40 min round trip to school sitting on a bin bag and dealing with the massacre afterwards.

Ring 111 but they probably won't be bothered - can you use the mirena coil? It's a life changer.

Bpdqueen · 16/10/2022 22:44

I'm having same problem right now 2 night time pads and sleeping on a towel

ThisIsNotThePostYourLookingFor · 16/10/2022 22:44

If you are genuinely soaking through a pad every hour then you should be attending a&e

baguettechick · 16/10/2022 22:45

You poor thing, OP.
Echo ring 111 and take photos of the clots.
I was haemorrhaging due to ovarian cysts and ended up in hospital severely anaemic. Tranexamic IV stopped the bleeding in its tracks (the dose is much stronger than the tablets).

Pegsmum · 16/10/2022 22:45

I had endometriosis for over 20 years so can empathise. I used to use a tampon, a thick pad (or 2) and knickers, then another thick pad and another pair of knickers.

ForestofD · 16/10/2022 22:46

We were on holiday and I went through all my pads. OH went out to buy something and the only suitable thing he could find late at night was thick incontinence pads. I now buy them for night and usually only need one change in the middle of the night, which is much better.

Mariposista · 16/10/2022 22:47

Gosh you poor thing you must feel horrendous losing so much blood. And so uncomfortable too. Are you under a gynaecologist? Surely there must be some treatment for you.
I agree with PP, a pad each hour all night and through the day is unsustainable and you could get very poorly. Please get some medical help.

Sandysandwich · 16/10/2022 22:47

Do you have quite a few pads? Could you make layered pad pants?
Like one in normal position and another horozontal across the butt part and then repeat in a second pair of pants and wear that over the 1st pair, then repeat if necessary. You should only have to change the inner layer but it prevents leaking through?

ColourfulCobra · 16/10/2022 22:49

Please seek medical guidance. You may think that there is no point as it has not been helpful before but then at least this case is logged on your record.

I used to use a thick pad x2 in pants and then another pair on top. Can you put towels on your bedding with perhaps a bin bag underneath. I know it's not glamorous. When the shops open tomorrow I recommend Huggies Bed Matts
