Liverpool FC tickets for 9 year old - how to get tickets? Should I get a membership?

My 8 year old son supports Liverpool. For his birthday he has asked for tickets to a Liverpool game. I have been trying to work out how to buy them and it looks as though the only tickets that become available are for members or people who live in Liverpool (or the hospitality tickets which are really expensive). The only thing I can think to do is get him and his dad (who would go with him) memberships so that they can (I think?) buy tickets in the members ticket sale next month.

Does that sound right or is there a better way to get tickets?

Answering my own question here, but just in case it is useful to anyone else:

"Adult/Junior tickets must be purchased on a 2:1 Ratio basis. Tickets can be purchased in all available areas, however dedicated Adult/Junior seating is available in Upper Anfield Road, Areas 223 – 224, subject to availability."

How much???

Jesus Christ, I moved out of Liverpool years ago now, but tickets used to be 6 quid and sold from a kiosk a few days before a match. £400? Are you sure?
