Restaurant in the City of London

I have to take someone to lunch in the City next Tuesday and I have no idea where to go. I don’t like Sushi Samba type of places and pubs wouldn’t be suitable either. I guess I’d like a bistro type of place that isn’t too ££. Any suggestion? It’s a work meeting but we know each other socially so quite relaxed. Thanks!

Cote is nice they have one at St Pauls?

Shylo · 13/10/2022 16:43

I went to cote at st Katherine’s dock recently and honestly it was pretty meh

where in the city are you - more towards the banks or the insurance end?

Shylo · 13/10/2022 16:44

Sorry that looked rude! Cote at St. Paul’s might be ok :)

Taverna Etrusca in Bow Lane might suit - quite a traditional Italian bistro type place.

Canto Corvino or New Street Grill.

There are some inexpensive places in broad gate circle OP, if that's the kind of place you're after?

Entrecote on Throgmorton Street. Steak and chip (although that is the entirety of the menu so they better like steak)

Impatientwino · 13/10/2022 16:51

Another vote for Taverna Etrusca

LutherRalph1 · 13/10/2022 16:55

Fora in houndsditch is a lovely Turkish

relaisdevenise.com/locations/london-city.php Is suitable
The Folly is girly and casual
Haven't been to Taberna Estrusca in ages but it always used to be good.

ConnieSaks · 13/10/2022 17:39

Enoteca De Luca (Basinghall St - near The Guildhall)

If you are near London Bridge then perhaps cross over to the south and enjoy Brindisa

St John (Bread and wine - Commercial St near Spitalfields) or the St John bar (rather than the main restaurant) on St. John St near Smithfield)

Absolutely rate Cabotte on Gresham St, lovey French bistro place. Also Manicomio on Gutter Lane. Agree with Taberna Entrusca too, just be careful not to mix up and end up at the restaurant next door like some of our clients did.

Drift in the Heron Tower?

lemonsaretheonlyfruit · 13/10/2022 17:53

Bread street kitchen is good for city lunches

Pinkcadillac · 13/10/2022 18:05

Thank you all! Taberna Etrusca sounds great

I will keep Cabotte or Enoteca de Luca as plan b
