Sims 4 download laptop help

Have no clue on any of this stuff
Dd has mentioned sims 4 for her laptop. (no disk drive) so need to be a download.

Whats the best site to use?
Do i need expansion packs too?

You need to use the client Origin; that’s the only option.

You also need a very good laptop to run it - it won’t run on a cheap or basic one.

I think we downloaded the sims direct from Origin when it was on offer. You don’t need the expansions but they do add a lot of good extras to the game, I got mine via CD Keys as they have good discounts, never paid full price for any.

Yes you need Origin but wait until the 18th as the base game will be free.

You don't need expansion packs but they will give you extra game play. We prefer to add user made mods into the game which isn't hard to do but if you don't have a great laptop will probably cause it to run slow/crash.

Origin likes to update every few days & is really annoying but you need it to run the Sims4.

You don't need any of the eleventy billion expansion packs, stuff packs, game packs that you can buy although personally (I have them all) I do think the pack that adds seasons is a must have.

The more packs you have, the slower it will run so you need a serious computer to play it with everything installed.

Most of the expansions go on sale for 50% off every few months so don't pay full price for them as it will rack up to hundreds very quickly.

There is no point buying it at all if your laptop cannot cope with it though.

The Sims is a very high powered game so you need to make sure your specs are up to scratch otherwise it will crash, lag and be totally unplayable.

Dh said her laptop will be fine. Again I'm clueless but i know its new and he got her a decent one as we thought this time will. Come soon. And so far it has nothing on it. So should be OK.

Yes use Origin.

I haven't played Sims 4 in such a long time but I used to use custom mods which are easy enough to do until you get a dodgy one that makes your Sim have eight limbs and have to sort through all the CC folder 🙃

You don't need to use Origin. You can use Steam if this is a platform she has used before and is familiar with.

Grandparents can buy Origin or Steam vouchers if they prefer to be able to give something tangible.
