What do you never have at home, that most people would always have?

I'll go first, we never have margarine, I just hate it, even though DH thinks it's the best! (sorry dh)

Takeaway

terriblyangryattimes · 02/10/2022 09:21

Alcohol (not tee total just don't drink at home\much at all)

Fish - cannot stand taste or smell. If I'm away for a few days my husband will buy and cook it 😁

Beezknees · 02/10/2022 09:44

Bread. We just never eat it. DC has lunch from the school canteen so never takes sandwiches, I usually have soup/crackers and cheese for lunch. We have cereal or porridge, or yogurt and fruit for breakfast.

Frith2013 · 02/10/2022 09:47

Tumble dryer
Huge TV
Dishwasher
Make up
Bottled water
Margarine
Dogs

.

Less smugness than a lot of people on this thread

fnfnf · 02/10/2022 09:53

Never have margarine either - I don't see the point. Butter all the way!
We also don't have:
Toaster
Bath
Car

Frith2013 · 02/10/2022 09:54

And...
A husband

Plus no ring doorbell, CCTV, security lighting etc.

True

CherryGenoa · 02/10/2022 10:15

I don’t know, there’s the odd smug post but most are interesting and a few are sad. I didn’t realise margarine was so unpopular - I always keep some Olivio in for my friend who is allergic to dairy!

GoBubbles · 02/10/2022 10:19

Interesting it’s so much about food.

I don’t have a proper bed in the guestroom, only airbeds and memory foam roll mattresses
no TV
absolutely no washing up bowl over my dead body
no slippers
no rugs

food-wise many items are missing:
cow milk
sugar
bread
spreads of any sort
margarine
crisps or sweets
biscuits or cakes
frozen ready meals
no frozen left overs
take aways

we have coasters but I want them to be gone

whenindoubtgotothelibrary · 02/10/2022 10:45

Pets
TV (we just use laptops/ipads)
Alexa
Ring doorbell
Air Fryer
Breakfast cereal
Cold drinks
Margarine/'spread'
Fabric softener
Washing up bowl
potatoes

Some things we never used to have but started in the pandemic and am struggling to shake the habit:

deliveroo
netflix
biscuits
white sliced bread
about 400 loo rolls in stock ( I am still scarred by those first months of 2020!)

IDidntKnowItWasAParty · 02/10/2022 11:16

Netflix
Video games

balalake · 02/10/2022 11:20

A dog.

I meant like butter substitutes, Clover, Utterly Butterly etc.

Butter substitutes is the newer name for margarine. They just renamed them to try and sell margarine to people who don't want margarine.

PleaseStopExplaining · 02/10/2022 11:24

Eggs

Isababybel · 02/10/2022 11:26

Love a bit of Clover ... perfect for my cheap white toast 🤭

the80sweregreat · 02/10/2022 11:37

Proper butter annoys me though ! It's either too runny if left out or you can't spread it out of the fridge or you need to soften it up in the microwave first or something.
It is better than the spreads taste wise , but it's a bit more faffing about.
My mum always bought anchor!

CollyWibbleWobbles · 02/10/2022 11:41

Paracetamol/aspirin

UniBallEye · 02/10/2022 12:09

We don't have:
Microwave
Dishwasher
Doorbell
Airfryer
Slow cooker
Instant coffee (beans only as we have a machine)
Letterbox on front door (it's on a gate pillar)

mangoj · 02/10/2022 12:14

Ketchup

Winterlight · 02/10/2022 12:29

Flowers or anything perfumed (due to DH’s allergies).

T.V.
Dishwasher.
Microwave.
