www.yorkpress.co.uk/news/22996639.mum-insists-saw-three-huge-crocodiles-swimming-sea-off-filey---experts-brand-sighting-vanishingly-unlikely/

Experts have said that it would be extremely unlikely that crocodiles which are cold blooded would like the cold North Sea.

Unless this is an unexpected effect of climate change and warning oceans.

But we all know what we think of experts. And why wouldn't they want to explore Yorkshire and its amazing coastline Grin

(Or it could just be a log. Or plastic)

I love the idea of Yorkshire crocodiles😂. By the way, they are not cold blooded, they are poikilothermic as opposed to mammals and birds which are homeothermic. Some poikilothermic animals can have higher body temperatures than mammals.😁

SirSamVimesCityWatch · 01/10/2022 09:48

I've swum off the Yorkshire coast. It's bloody freezing. Good luck crocodiles is all I say.

NuttyinNotts · 01/10/2022 09:50

I wonder if all the shit they've dredged into the sea from Teesport has had time to cause mutant sea creatures?!

Skinnermarink · 01/10/2022 09:51

Crocodiles are tough as owt, they can survive anything.

PuttingDownRoots · 01/10/2022 09:51

I doubt a poikilothermic animal would be warmer than a homeothermic one immersed in the North Sea in autumn!Grin

This is panthers in Yorkshire level craziness. The crocs bask all day on the river and estuary banks in the winter where I live to try and keep warm. And by winter, I mean daytime temperatures of 22-24 degrees c. They rarely south of Rockhampton because it is too cold for them. So even sub-tropics is too cold.

KangarooKenny · 01/10/2022 10:08

Shouldn’t it be ‘rockodiles’ ? Looks like rocks to me.

How are people still taking blurry photo's? Just like every "ghost hunter" in existence. Even basic smart phones have decent cameras.

Disneyblueeyes · 01/10/2022 10:14

They don't look anything like crocodiles.

diddl · 01/10/2022 10:19

Is this going to be the new Loch Ness Monster?

Is Filey in need of a boost?

Prescottdanni123 · 01/10/2022 10:20

There is now suspicions that there may be a monster in Ullswater after someone saw a Canadian goose being pulled under water by something and drowned. According to some people, it is either a monster or someone was released a crocodile there at some point.

Camera shake from the wind and cold?Grin
(Seriously, a lot of camera phones don't have decent optical zoom so blown up photos of anything at a distance will often be blurry)

Crocodile, s in Yorkshire 🤣
That's fabulous the people of Lancashire will be getting jealous they will want their own crocodiles 😂

I've taken lots of pictures of Big Cats in Yorkshire if you would like to see one...

Where have you seen them ?
I'm always fascinated by people spotting large cats.

Threadkillacilla · 01/10/2022 10:34

If ever an animal/reptile? fit the bill for an area I would think it's crocodile and Yorkshire.
They likely originated here.
I believe it.

Yes please.
(also in the newspaper report on the crocodiles the expert says they could have been put there, which is really sad and a bloody disgrace if true. They won't survive long.)

I managed to get to Filey during the last heatwave and the water was lovely and warm! No crocs though.

PuttingDownRoots · 01/10/2022 10:39

These were taken near my house...

The Big Cats of South Yorkshire are very famous

x2boys · 01/10/2022 10:40

Do they live in the wild?

MrsMoastyToasty · 01/10/2022 10:41

A caiman was found in Chew Valley reservoir near Bristol a couple of years ago by one of the staff from Bristol Water.

Surtsey · 01/10/2022 10:48

Saltwater crocodiles in the North Sea? Blimey, they've swum a long way. 😂

CrunchyCarrot · 01/10/2022 10:50

From the newspaper: “Experts would say it’s not possible, but they would say that because they wouldn’t want to put the fear factor on tourists."

This is yet another example of Joe Public who is definitely not an expert in crocodiles knowing better than actual experts, and filling in their own 'reasoning'. 🙄

It is quite amusing though, like there being alligators in New York's sewers! 😂
