What do you eat for breakfast?

I pretty much always just have a cup of tea and toast. It’s a bit boring though. I’d like to try something different but I just wondered what most people ate on weekday mornings.

Depends on my mood! Sometimes Greek yoghurt, 🍓 and a drizzle of honey, other times I prefer something warm and cosy so hot buttered Crumpets or toast 😋

ParkheadParadise · 30/09/2022 13:20

Coco pops 😁
Sometimes I meet up with friends during the week for breakfast usually have a full scottish breakfast.

On a Sunday we sometimes walk to our local cafe for breakfast.

Ive eaten it every day since I was little @Dalekjastninerels - I love it :)

I am very tempted to try it now.

ItsRainingTacos79 · 30/09/2022 13:22

Sandwiches/wraps/quesadillas
Left overs from night before
Eggs
Avocado toast
Pasta/couscous salad
Sushi
Rice Noodles in broth

Traditional European breakfast foods are just boring or not substantial enough as a meal, I find myself reaching for snacks by 10am. Fruit and yoghurt first thing in the morning is unpleasant.

SunscreenCentral · 30/09/2022 13:22

Black coffee. Glass of water. That's it.

i don't like eating in the morning. 12 o clock works for me.

Hopelessacademic · 30/09/2022 13:23

Cup of tea, and...
2 slices of toast with either butter and hagelslag (Dutch thing - basically chocolate sprinkles),
or peanut butter and chocolate spread
or during lent, when I give up chocolate, toast with lime marmalade
or if I forgot to put a bread on, shreddies, or special K red berries (the aldi knockoffs)

Bobbins36 · 30/09/2022 13:23

Blueberries and Skyr (usually Greek yog - full fat) and a lot of coffee

FunnysInLaJardin · 30/09/2022 13:26

fruit yoghurt with granola and extra fruit!

FunnysInLaJardin · 30/09/2022 13:26

oh yes and a big mug of fresh coffee

JesusMaryAndJosephAndTheWeeDon · 30/09/2022 13:26

A large mug of black coffee.

Fink · 30/09/2022 13:27

I love stewed plums or rhubarb, or summer berries with yoghurt. Toast with cheese or speculoos. Sometimes cereal or porridge wih raisins and berries. But the cereals I like are ridiculously high in sugar so I don't have them often. If I had time, I would love eggs or sausage.

paulmccartneysbagel · 30/09/2022 14:13

Usually, I can only ever be bothered to have toast and butter. Although I do like fried mushrooms and hash browns.

Sometimes on a weekend I'll make pancakes as the kids love them - pear and ginger ones.

Whatever my EA feels like picking up for me on her way into the office

OMFG! Ha ha ha ha!

BlackberryCat · 30/09/2022 14:25

Thanks! This is really interesting.

Theoldwoman · 30/09/2022 14:26

Usually poached eggs on toast with beetroot relish.

EnglishGirlApproximately · 30/09/2022 14:28

Summer - crunchy bran / bran flakes with Raspberries and Blueberries
Winter - porridge with banana and honey
Sundays - eggy crumpets / pancakes/ French toast / waffles / breakfast burrito

MinnieMountain · 30/09/2022 14:38

Rice cakes and peanut butter and coffee.
Toast and marmite on weekends. Sometimes homemade fruit bread.

Snailsaresweet · 30/09/2022 14:43

Greek yoghurt with fruit or sometimes just a spoonful of of home-made jam.

Notplayingball · 30/09/2022 14:45

Slice of toast with marmalade. Two boiled eggs chapped up with a teaspoon of butter in a cup.

familyissues12345 · 30/09/2022 14:51

Not much usually, apart from a coffee.

If I'm going to work I try and squeeze a yogurt in, and if weirdly I'm hungry then a bowl of special K but that's very rare. I usually have to remind myself to eat, and it isn't unusual for me to forget, brush my teeth then not be able to eat!

Luckily I've recently changed my job to a much more flexible one where I can have a mid morning snack if I need one - I used to work in a role with strictly no break until lunch. Now I can eat crap most of the morning if I wanted to..

ItsRainingPens · 30/09/2022 14:54

Low sugar granola with greek yoghurt

Notplayingball · 30/09/2022 15:01

Oh, and a whole lot of tea.

Notplayingball · 30/09/2022 15:01

*pot

BigWoollyJumpers · 30/09/2022 15:09

I'm with you OP. Coffee and toast for me. Change it up a bit with either honey, or marmalade, or (shock) nutella. I do like a hot cross bun too, those very fruity ones from Waitrose are lurverly, but very calorific.

Funnily enough on holiday I will eat fruit, but then it's so much nicer in Italy. Fruit here is a complete disappointment. In Italy I will also have bread and nutella, or some kind of cake😋
