What do you eat for breakfast?

I pretty much always just have a cup of tea and toast. It’s a bit boring though. I’d like to try something different but I just wondered what most people ate on weekday mornings.

Fried eggs, mushrooms and tomato on sourdough bread
Or porridge with almonds, blueberries (frozen), and banana on top
I make the porridge up the night before so it cooks very quickly

Novella12 · 30/09/2022 12:50

My pregnancy breakfast is toasted bagels with cream cheese and sliced cucumber, with a sprinkling of salt on top. It has become an obsession.

Hairymaery · 30/09/2022 12:52

@Novella12 what's a pregnancy breakfast?

@Novella12 I have exactly this! I add a little chilli flakes sometimes too

Novella12 · 30/09/2022 12:55

@Hairymaery just the breakfast I've been managing to eat while pregnant. I've gone off most other foods first thing in the morning, but this seems to work 😊

ChocolateSpreadOnToast · 30/09/2022 12:55

All bran with some fruit on top and a cup of peppermint tea.

Whatever my EA feels like picking up for me on her way into the office. Or whatever fruit is left from the previous day’s corporate fruit delivery. So sometimes I have fresh sushi and sometimes a slightly sad pear.

It’s gotten me into the joys of not feeling like you must eat “breakfast food” at breakfast time, though. If you feel like tomato soup or a steak, have it.

What's an EA?

mandolinwind · 30/09/2022 12:59

A boiled egg and wholemeal toast.

Hairymaery · 30/09/2022 12:59

@Novella12 mmm it sounds lovely, I might try it myself (now I know its not going to encourage fertility or anything haha)

AuntieMarys · 30/09/2022 13:02

Oats with flaxseed, chia seeds banana and blueberries
Sometimes poached eggs

Deadringer · 30/09/2022 13:04

I love my tea and wholemeal toast. I used to really like porridge, i ate it every morning for years but I suddenly went off it and now I hate the stuff, even the smell of it, ugh. Cereal doesn't really agree with me and I am too lazy to make a cooked breakfast so toast is perfect for me.

crumpetswithjam · 30/09/2022 13:05

Yoghurt. Or crunchy nut cereal.

Goforgo · 30/09/2022 13:07

Green tea. Poached eggs, avocado, rye bread, berries, and a grilled mushroom. Smoked salmon too if I’m feeling fancy.

YellowAndGreenToBeSeen · 30/09/2022 13:07

Omelette with spinach and shavings of Parmesan cheese
Scrambled eggs
Greek yoghurt with almonds, berries and a banana

and @Incrediblebuttrue an EA is an Executive Assistant.

Belladonnamama · 30/09/2022 13:08

I go through phases of eating the same breakfasts for a while. So it's usually in rotation every week or so.

Toast with butter and laughing cow
Bagel with chicken and bacon filler
Boiled egg and toast
Fried egg and toast
Sausage sandwich

I never eat cereal or fruit for breakfast. Always have a cup of tea.

MaryTruss · 30/09/2022 13:08

Ive eaten it every day since I was little @Dalekjastninerels - I love it :)

PorridgePowered · 30/09/2022 13:10

No surprises here.. porridge!

Always with whole milk, this morning with peacan nuts and walnuts and a swirl of honey (currently have some very fancy raw local honey and it's delightful!)

jay55 · 30/09/2022 13:10

Nairns biscuits.
Or fruit.

Aquamarine1029 · 30/09/2022 13:12

I make smoothie every morning and bring it with me. Milk, banana, berries, plain Greek yoghurt, chia or flax seeds, and a touch of honey.

RedRec · 30/09/2022 13:12

Porridge with raisins and banana and a little golden syrup.

Lolly86 · 30/09/2022 13:13

Greek yoghurt, museli and a little honey

Backtonormalnow · 30/09/2022 13:14

Tea and toast.

pimlicoanna · 30/09/2022 13:15

Porridge

TenoringBehind · 30/09/2022 13:17

Muesli with berries or banana. Every day. Saves thinking and keeps me going until lunchtime.

MajorCarolDanvers · 30/09/2022 13:17

Porridge and a cup of coffee

For a change sometimes have scrambled eggs and toast or a bagel.
