What is the dumbest family argument you’ve had?

Lighthearted thread, but I was wondering what stupid arguments have you ever had with your family?

For me, it’s over a riddle. My parents thought the answer was one thing, I thought another. Both sets were adamant we were correct. It started off lighthearted then descended into full on arguments, diagrams and a bit of shouting! My parents (who are really lovely and supportive and we’re very close) started mocking my intellect somewhat and I got quite affronted and stormed out. It carried on to the next day. Even now, about 20 years later, we do not talk about The Riddle. I still bristle about it! I am absolutely not saying what the riddle is because I Am Not getting into that shit again, but I did just Google it and I was right!

Anyone else?

Although she'd probably be like 'I'm not a pain in the arse, actually, I'm an annoyance registered through your ears and experienced entirely in your brain. I think you'll find.'

The meaning of the word 'Sorry'. My DH says it means 'I feel regretful and I will not do that again'. I think it just means 'I feel regretful'.

I know I am right.

It comes up all the time though.

Your DH is correct

I have a new one (that will very possibly run for years). I said to DP after a big shop that we were terrible because we'd bought four kinds of cake. But he said no, because doughnuts AREN'T CAKES!!! The absolute madman.

startrek90 · 14/10/2022 15:08

@Beeinalily your dh is right doughnuts are not cakes.

When we first met late dh and I were talking about future children’s names we were never planning on having anyway.

we proper fell out over a couple of names, shouting, storming off, not speaking for hours. Completely bonkers!

an ex of mine had a massive go at me and refused to speak to me for 2 days.. apparently I had cheated on him in a dream. I kept asking what was wrong and he kept snarling you should know, don’t come acting all innocent
bloody batshit
