90's exercise - what was your favourite?

I'm ancient now but fondly remember the popularity of aerobics in the 90s. Step really took off then and 'popmobility' - a really high impact class that took you to another level. BLT classes which were mostly spent on the mat.

These evolved to the Les Mills classes of the 00's and HIIT - I really miss the old skool aerobics classes though 😅

Callanetics!

Adored popmobility - it was so jolly, I can remember a move called the Rabbit.

There’s nothing cheery like that now is there? Although generally exercise options are so much broader and better

It's much more serious now isn't it!

Yeah Callanetics. I go to a pilates-ish class nowadays and the instructor has homaged bits of it. I said this and she fessed up Grin

Anything dance based! I loved aerobics in the the village hall with my Mum ☺️

Elle macphersoj the body work out

My mum was doing slimming world and she got the Beverley Callard exercise DVD. Me, her and my sister used to do it 3 times a week in the living room. I still remember most of the moves now 😂😂

I do Pilates twice a week and the moves are similar 🤔😅

I borrowed the Cindy Crawford fitness video from my local library 😲😂

I had a Rosemary Connelly video and loved it.

Also agree re the Elle Macpherson one. And the only time I've ever had lovely toned arms was from doing her arms workout regularly. Might find it and have another go 🤔

I do peloton classes (hence the user name) and can say I've laughed a lot doing them
One of the best quotes was "you didn't survive a pandemic to fake an orgasm" along with "you've done harder things than ride a bike to Justin beiber"

PollyCreo · 28/09/2022 23:44

Rosemary Conley was very much of her time - low fat everything. Remove skin from chicken etc, then came the Atkins backlash

The Cindy Crawford Video where she swings her legs back and forth. I loved doing that!

OldTinHat · 28/09/2022 23:48

Step aerobics!!

DorritLittle · 28/09/2022 23:51

I loved Step. I miss normal aerobics too. Grapevine!

My favourite 90s DVD was Cher Fitness: A New Attitude. Great hairdos.

TheFormidableMrsC · 28/09/2022 23:56

Jane Fonda! I have actually dragged out my old step set and found a routine she did that I really loved on YouTube. Immediately remembered all of it. Great fun!

She wore a red unitard in that video I think? She was just the most perfect woman I'd ever seen in my life. Aargh 😂

I’ve gone retro on my workouts and have gone back to step, I absolutely love it, it’s a fabulous workout, I subscribe to CDorner on YouTube she’s fab!

I’ve been doing the Jane Fonda workouts as well! I did them everyday in my teens, it’s down to JF that I started workouts early and have kept it up through my life, thanks Jane!

I loved step back in the day! It seemed to drop out of fashion though as it was thought to cause knee problems

OP posts:
JudgeRindersMinder · 29/09/2022 00:11

Step was definitely my thing-I used to do it 3-4 times a week. Wish I still could but arthritic knees have put paid to that

PollyCreo · 29/09/2022 00:15

Does anyone remember toning tables? 🤔

OP posts:
FatMog · 29/09/2022 00:15

I also liked step-aerobics! Despite having no rhythm no co-ordination. Also: aqua-aerobics!

Yes exercise used to be much more fun. I'm now trying to lose a phenomenal amount of weight and I can't believe how seriously people take their exercise regimens. I like to cycle, ramble, and do Nintendo ring go...much more fun!

FatMog · 29/09/2022 00:16

Yes! I never did them but my mum did! I don't think they helped much...did they? Flowers

FatMog · 29/09/2022 00:17

(I pressed flowers by mistake)
