Managed to buy some beautiful, bright clothes for DS

Got some gorgeous clothes for DS in bright colours, but they weren’t cheap.

I know it’s a constant moan but supermarket clothes for boys are dire. Morrisons nutmeg aren’t too bad but the others just seem to be sludge colours and endless dinosaurs, and DS isn’t really into our extinct friends as of yet.

Where can I buy nice clothes without breaking the bank? I don’t want him dressed in endless navy and khaki and grey, don’t like Disney (he isn’t into it) and would prefer to avoid dinosaurs …

I love bright colours! Next have quite a lot, although not the cheapest. Although they have a sale on now. I have also found it is quite seasonal so I stock up in spring/summer time. Not much use to you now!

JohnLapsleyParlabane · 28/09/2022 19:39

Second hand?

TeddyBeans · 28/09/2022 19:40

Next for sure. Some of the supermarket clothes can be really cheerful as well. I've got some nice stuff from Asda and Tesco

Have a look in Sainsburys. Not sure what they have for for winter but I bought some lovely cheap multipacks of striped t-shirts and plain/checked shorts in bright colours this summer.

AuldReekie1905 · 28/09/2022 19:41

Next.
Blade and rose.

Check vinted too. My son was in brightly coloured leggings today from blade and rose. Good quality, not really expensive and lots of bright colours.

masterbakeoff · 28/09/2022 19:43

Random but try mountain warehouse. I've had some fab T-shirts and jumpers for my very tall son.

Earlgreyteaandhomemadebiscuit · 28/09/2022 19:44

Blade and rose is where I got the latest clothes from and they really are lovely but pretty £££!

Sainsburys was great once - not sure what’s happened to it.

I used to notice bright clothing in supermarkets.

AthenaPopodopolous · 28/09/2022 19:46

Joules and M&S

tealandteal · 28/09/2022 19:48

I buy bundles off eBay, takes some sifting to find the ones without slogans I don’t like but he has some lovely bright clothes. When he was younger I loved organic dungarees and leggings, in vibrant prints but now he is 5 he’s not in to dungarees. Rainbows and Sprinkles was my favourite but there are lots that make similar. Quite pricy but I usually had one in each age and I loved choosing a new print for him.

Squeezedsquash · 28/09/2022 19:48

How old is your son?

i found that Sainsburys had seasons where there was colour, and seasons with sludge. Now my boys are slightly older, H&M often has colours for staples and next is good too.

Numbat2022 · 28/09/2022 19:49

Next always have brights, although not always in store.

Secondhand from eBay or Vinted - Frugi, JoJo Maman, John Lewis.

Boots had some lovely bright bits over summer.

Beige/sludge seems to be fashionable for kids at the moment, so all the supermarkets have gone that way. My local Morrison's older boy section is a wall of brown.

Captinplanit · 28/09/2022 19:50

As much as I agree that boys clothes are bland and should be available in a rainbow of colours please don’t deny your son the delights of Disney or dinosaurs because you don’t want him to be the same as everyone else.

Dmsandfloatydress · 28/09/2022 19:52

Frugi and little green radicals in ebay, babipur and in the sales. Gorgeous and ethical. Lasts through several kids.

PensionPuzzle · 28/09/2022 19:58

Secondhand Frugi, Kite, that kind of thing are lovely and have active moderated FB selling groups if you don't fancy chancing it with eBay or vinted, most of what people put on the FB groups looks almost new! M&S seem pretty good a lot of the time too and I think their kids' clothes are generally still very good quality for the price.

Pufferpuffin · 28/09/2022 20:09

Lindex is really good for kids bright and fun stuff.

whingewhinge · 28/09/2022 20:15

I'm buying from the girls sections

Mufflette · 28/09/2022 20:16

Frugi off eBay, Matalan have some good things, I've loved the John Lewis Anyday ones too - cheaper than you expect for their stuff!

HeyDiddleDaddle · 28/09/2022 20:17

Vinted!

Next are very colourful.

I also love that Sainsbury's do a lot of clothes for boys that aren't bloody dinosaurs and tractors. Lots of lovely woodland animals etc.

reelcat · 28/09/2022 20:19

H&M

Simonjt · 28/09/2022 20:21

I just buy things from the girls section instead, they’re often a bit cheaper as well as not being dull.

Boofay · 28/09/2022 20:23

Handmade! So many bright fabrics out there and loads of handmade clothes sellers love making unisex clothing for children.
Full disclosure - I make children's clothes (hence the knowledge) but wouldn't dream of advertising on here!

RobertaTheRobot · 28/09/2022 20:24

Project panda
Next
Sainsbury's have the odd bit
Matalan can be hit or miss
M&S

MrsTerryPratchett · 28/09/2022 20:25

Girls section.

I used to just buy 'clothes' when DD was little. No girls or boys just whatever looked nice.

Now she wears oversized t-shirts and hoodies so same deal really.
